Ok this is how you can own land in the phills, if you are married to a local if she just happens to fall of the perch before you then you will own 75% of your house and lot and the other 25% will be owned by her next of kin, so maybe find an older lady ??? if you really want to own land here.

One thing a lot of people forget when saying the prices will go up so much that a Filipino will never be able to own property,, just who is selling that property in the first place????????? And who is buying that property???? Filipino seller, Filipino buyer.

Actually, if the Phil Government really wanted to set goals to improve the lifestyle of the people, they would work out a deal that suits foreigners and the Phlippine people alike. The words are:- Compromise and Equitable to both. Not too hard if people really want to achieve it.

Having said that, I am happy with the situation here, and not complaining at all.

Phil is just a different Country that I need to assimilate to. Simple as that.

In every Country around the world, we will hear the citizens saying how things could be improved.

As foreigners here in Phil, we should remember, that we are their guests afterall.

I am very fortunate to be married to a wonderful Filipina, and I have met all her family in Zamboanga, and also her family here in Dumaguete, ( yes, folks it is a huge family). They are all very very nice people, and have accepted me with open arms, which I am very grateful for.

It is amazing how happy they all are with their lives, and they are not wealthy people at all.

    Paul.

other countries that allow foriegners to independantly own property and sell and profit from it,have seen a boom in property values and it spread into agricultural areas until the prices got so high that the farmers cannot afford to farm on it and sell out for big money and the realestate moves in....So now for example in Panama, they are faceing the prospect of having to import food for themselves from thier cheaper nieghbours who can do like oil companies and make all slaves to price gouging....it becomes bad news when the foriegners profit and then pull out because it gets too expensive there..All the while the locals are left behind with no real wage inflation to afford to eat or afford land for subsistence crops/animals...Already nieghbour costa rica is seeing tourism fall back because it is becoming so expensive without real infrastucture to justify paying so much to be there....Its good foriegners come bringing money but to do so in a way that changes the countries economy to out pace its own peoples ability to simply survive in subsistence is outright dangerous for everybody in the country, rich, poor, foriegn or sovriegn.....philippies along with peru are two emerging economies set to go boom coming decade and it depends on how its allowed to progress for all involved...thailand had that boom before and ended up tightening tourist/foriegn liberties and has done good to subsidise and regulate its economy to keep it cheap/affordable by local standards....its amazing the level of development in thailand without the sky jacking of prices there like is being allowed in those central american tourist boom countries....

Actually, if the Phil Government really cared about raising the Peoples living standard here, and improving the economy, there are many ways of doing it, only ONE way, is to allow Foreigners to own property here in their own name. Of course it has to be regulated and with conditions, but it could be done. Look at how Taiwan, China, Hong Kong have progressed over the years with good Government leadership. They came up with ideas that benefited both cultures. Of course you will say that is different, but not really, because the Govt in those Countries did some intelligent thinking.

And, I am not only thinking from my point of view at all, it makes no difference to me if I own a property in my name or Angies name, (Angie is my wife and she is a Filipina) which is what we will be doing. Also I will be going into several business ventures with members of her Family, my Family now) and that will benefit the family as well as me.

    Win - Win deal.

Sensible equitable progress is only limited by limited thinking.
