    Try looking at the $100 bill incident this way.
    A guy walks into the store steal a $100 bill and then walks away. $100 stolen correct?
    The guy or his friend or anyone for that matter walks into the store and buys $70 worth of goods using the $100 bill. Their change is $30 right, just an ordinary transaction. No theft on that transaction.

    The snack bar scenario I can not explain. If it involved cryptocurrency that might explain a few things. That stuff disappears a lot. LOL
