judging from this map here Philippine Road Map - Cebu & Negros it would seem the best way to get between these two places would be to change buses at Hinigaran and then take the half-decent looking road according to the map over the mountain to the east side. It looks like quite a long journey, has anyone ever done anything like this and is there an especially good place to stop over for a night to break it up.
I think we have the same map. I have made the mistake of thinking that some of those roads on the map are reasonable, usually they are not. I doubt if you will pick up a bus going the way you want from Hinigaran. The easiest way by bus would be to take bus from Sipalay to nearer Bacolod and then either take a bus to Canlaon and then San Carlos or take bus direct to San Carlos vis Don Salvador Benedicto. have driven both routes and am pretty sure that Ceres do both as well. nice scenery both ways and depending on connections etc should be 4-5 hours
Made both stretches (Sipalay - Bacolod and Bacolod - San Carlos) not by Ceres bus but with own car. Nearer Bacolod is still 200 km. Are you sure that Ceres bus will do the whole trip Sipalay - San Carlos in just 4 - 5 hours ?! It took me almost 4 hours from Sipalay to Bacolod, so....! I assume the 4- 5 hours you mention, is for each stretch separately; in that case I agree with you.
Sorry, been a long time since I took the bus so wasnt sure how long it took form Sipalay towards Bacolod. Both routes via DS Benedicto and Canlaon are some way before Bacolod and the distances across the island to San Carlos are much shorter . Its around 2 hours driving own car.
don't know where Sipalay is, but Just went to san carlos via Don Salvador Benedicto from Bacolod, on the way took 2 hours, coming back 1 hour 45min great road, I use to go the long way around which took from 3.5 to 4 hours, i was told not to go that way brcause of the NPA but did it all in daylight hours. oh and cheap fruit bananas p40kg SM charge tripple that.
