I take it, it's the bit that says the bike tried to manover back to its origin position but hit the front of the bus?
My interpretation for this is, the bike driver tried to overtake but saw an incoming vehicle on the other lane, bike driver pushed himself on the side of the bus (he probably ended up in between lanes but abit infront of the bus) he was probably squashed in and lost total control of the vehicle and he landed infront of the running bus (bus driver didnt see it coming until it was too late )the bike driver bounced and slammed himself onto the front bumper of the bus and wrecked the bumper and the windshield. saw an incident like this in cebu (naga area) on the way back to dumaguete where bike drivers drive like lunatics and so as the bus drivers.
Hmmmmm, so he TRIED to overtake the bus but wanted to return to his original position (which, simple of mind as I am means BEHIND the bus), but instead managed to slam into the bus causing a cracked windshield and bumper damage, both situated at the FRONT of the bus..... Vicmico
A bike would have to hit a bus pretty hard, as in head on, the "break" a bumper (this is a bus, not a Honda car), and the windshield is 5 feet off the ground. It could not be done if the momentum of the bike was the same as the bus (going the same direction). As for fault, the bus driver being charged is standard operating procedure. In most any accident here involving someone who can pay (Ceres) VS someone who cannot, the someone who can pay will almost always be found at fault, with very few exceptions. Larry
Here is a photo of the accident from Sun Star. Obviously the Daily Star interpretation of the accident report is wrong because it sure looks like a head-on collision. It would take a pretty good bang to make a hole that size in the windshield of the bus. According to the Sun Star, the bus driver refused to give his side of the story to reporters but the elder brother of Lorenzo, one of the victims stated that they family has no plan to file charges but is asking for help with burial costs. I am guessing that the speed of the bus would be a determining factor in any "reckless imprudence resulting in homicide" charges filed against the driver.
I think he cut his way in basing from the photo above.he was travelling on the same direction as the bus but forcedly cut himself infront of the bus with very little distance for the bus to move and too late for the bus driver to put the brakes on. he jammed himself straight onto the bike driver. same here, I don't feel sorry for anyone that dies due to reckless driving but I feel sorry for the innocent drivers and passengers that got involved. (if theres any)
Nice-Sherwood, do you have any idea how much force it would take to put a hole that size in the bus windshield; two layers of tempered glass with a polymer sheet bonded between them? Anyway, I expanded the photo and I believe the destination sign in the front of the bus (what is left of it) reads Amlan, means the bus was headed North. The Sun star reported that the motorcycle was enroute to Sibulan from San Jose ... that means heading south; thus supporting Larry's opinion of a head-on collision.
The bus that they collided with doesn't seem to be the bus that they were overtaking. It looks like it is the vehicle that was reported to have been approaching from the other direction. Head on smack, no doubt, and the point of impact shows that the bike was a long way over on the wrong side of the road.
