Stranded Foreigners?

Not sure why i was always sick but every day of my roughly 2 years there was of lethargy weakness and like a borderline fever and very dry mouth not to mention the heat... That was daily and not including the fevers i would get full blown every month or more often... I would have bad days and worse days and i remember 1 good day that didn't last t all day and it was a sunday with little traffic.... I moved from dumaguete to mountains of Bacolod area and visited cebu, manila, mindanao and it was the same every where..I had developed minor issues in Hawaii from volcano smoke for a few years prior to fleeing to philippines and as soon as i arrived to that smell of hydrogen sulfide in philippines air (like a rotten egg mixed with motor oil) , I went down hill and tried to adapt over time but gave up after two years figuring it would shorten my life span to live there... I would get frequent bouts of cough and breathing problems like i couldnt catch my breath for hours... I heard its common there and a major cause of death among people there... And of course every day every where people hacking and coughing and go about like its normal.... I have options and have since tried a year in Nicaragua and visited every central american country except el salvador... I just got back from Peru this year and lasted 4 months there... All were easier on me than Philippines but still not as easy as florida fresh air or even bad air places in US are great compared to any other country i have been other than Canada.... I was in Evuador for not enough time and will go back to visit there more indepth but no more trying to move and live outside USA unless i stumble into a place while travelling and experience it keep me there by its own good essences.... My Lady in Manila is not able to get online much because her work restricts her as she lives in and uses their house and internet setup... Every time i sent her money, i would not hear from her until she needed more money and i would expect after sending money, she would be able to stay in touch as easily as she does when contacting me about sending money and checking back every day to see if i sent it as i delayed for weeks until sending it... Hard to say what shes up to but i know its not easy for her unless she is playing me like a cheap cebu guitar.. Maybe the nice house she works at is hers and her accomplices, maybe the baby she looks after is hers and not the bosses grand child? She doesn't chat enough with me in detail about whats going on for me to have any idea other than speculation based on experience from being there and knowing here in person... We havent seen each other in 2.5 years so a lot may have influenced her by now.... She just says she is still single, no children and she is willing for us to be together at place of my choice for health reasons....Oh and says to send money and or Balikbayan box.. She says she really likes my chocolate, not sure which she refers to but i assume its the daily snickers bars i bought on request for her and she would spend an hour or more nibbling at it like a slow steady vice.... I hate those things and when she would separate e the peanuts in her mouth and suck on them for a long while after all the chocolate was gone....

 

Interesting; I felt sick in Paranaque City with the amount of Pollution, and got the same when in Dumaguete, but I will be living near Zamboanguita and the one thing I loved was the clean crisp air, I could breathe easier, after a week I was able to walk easier, by the end of 6 weeks I felt as if I had a new lease of life which is one of the reasons I decided to live in the Philippines was a must if I wished to live beyond the next 5 to 10 years. I had a Fly Injection when I turned 40 and took a very severe reaction to it, I had Pneumonia type symptoms for more than two years after, my lungs almost collapsed, a full breath felt like I could barely fill a shot glass when I took a breath then blew out.

One thing I DO love about the Philippines is the HEAT! I have had a broken leg for 30 years which has no steel plate, pins or screws holding the break together, I have also had possible more broken bones than a seasoned Football player which feel like a Toothache if the temperature dips below 25 celsius, the colder it gets the more pain I get, and at 0 celsius I feel like I have just gone a few rounds with Muhammad Ali then thrown into a Cement mixer and pummeled for a few more hours, pain is an understatement! So bring on the HEAT! :rofl:

But your symptoms sound more like a Mosquito borne problem, similar to Ross River Fever which I had when I was 19 years old, again; two years of aches, pains, hot cold sweats, no energy, tired all the time but so hard to sleep due to the pain, it took around 4 years before I did not notice the pain anymore or experience sweating which would saturate my clothes. Have you had a series of Blood tests performed to count out the possibility of an infection by Mosquitoes? I remember Doctors being very surprised when they diagnosed me, until they learnt I had moved from an area surrounded by Cane Fields and Mosquitoes.

Have you thought about having your Wife investigated? I can possibly give you the details of a guy who I think resides in Dumaguete who is very good at what he does, I was quoted $250/350 to investigate someone in Cebu, it does rise the further he needs to travel and he uses trust local Girls who befriend the suspect in conversation to assess if she is genuine or a Scammer. Add out how much you have sent already, how much you are going to send, then ask yourself if the investment is peace of mind to know if you are doing the right thing or if it is time you moved on to someone more deserving...

I had a medical check up with blood test when i got back from philippines... They did a full screening to their standard which included HIV, cholesterol and much more... But i was worried that they have a limited list of things they check k for after r my tests came back all clear other than slight cholesterol elevation ... If it was some tropical disease by mosquito that was not on their battery of tests in USA, then i was out of luck for detecting it and no specialist i know to go to... I started feeling better but ever since philippines, i get cold and flu more easily and ills around every slight weather change and strange symptoms... But nothing anywhere near as bad as i had in Philippines... I had a filipino lady renting from me back in 1999 before i had ever been to Philippines or knew of it, she used to always ask me about getting married and why i had no wife in my house too big for only me.... She lived in the guest house out back... She went away for a while and when i saw her again she approached me to greet and all and i got this terrible head sensation like a synthetic headache or something like never before and she looked like crap and i suspected i had instantly picked up something from her, something toxic or such.... It went away after two day, but i asked her if she had been away to her country and she said yes with a miserable look and i kept quiet about what i felt when she approached me.... Years later or over a decade later, i ended up in Philippines and sure enough that mystery illness was part of my experience of symptoms while i was in philippines and never have i had it elsewhere in 16 other countries and other states in US i travelled in my lifetime... Oh wait one other time i got terribly sick with what felt like that thing, it was after eating a bakery item at a filipino restaurant t of authentic tagalog speaking filipinos...l Never went back there again and i bet that day one of them had just returned from philippines and got hands on in the kitchen cooking it up for me... Any way, i am not doing anything about my lady in Philippines until March, wait to hear what happens when she is done with work in March and i will start from there.... All plans are off until March and any further developments... Not going to send money to her again or spend on investigating because she was so quick to discard our plans when i cut her off from more money for not getting her passport but telling me she would during 3 times of sending enough money to get it each time.... I will wait til march when she is done with any obligations she claims now and then see if she has even the slightest reservations or new events to come between us.... If it sounds okay by then, i can come see her e and she will live with me there and be together every day all day a to know first hand wat she is up to , then on to Thailand for relief and good food and then start on US visa for her.... All a big maybe, it may turn out i stay put and leave her be to the next "lucky guy"..

It may sound somewhat Draconian but at least it shows the PI are thinking ahead, to ensure their people can look after themselves. or at least not fall Foul of issues such as some Westerners are experiencing just now.
