You're expecting western style service and communication from another country. Your expectations should change with the environment you are in.
Why they can't remove the olives from the pizza? Maybe they are already premade and it would take too much work to pick out every olive from the premade pizza? That's their rules or policy. Just go with the flow, pick a different pizza that doesn't have olive on the menu.
As far as them telling you they don't have your order in stock. That's just bad customer service and communication. You deal with this every time you go to a restaurant? I for sure have experienced bad customer service and communication from restaurants and other places I shop. Ever work in the office? Bad comm all day long..
Nothing you described tells me they are stupid, not intelligent, or have no common sense.

Yeah, I don't think a few people trying to change the "out of stock" situation is going to ruin the country and I'd be more than happy to make the Philippines less affordable if it improves the lives for Filipinos. I don't think there is much that I can do about either but I do think trying to improve things, no matter where you live, is a good thing.

If your job depends on you following the managers instructions then that is what you do or you jon the unemployed. Remember, these youngsters are more than likely working to support their family, not to go and buy some junk as youngsters do in our own countries.

Somehow I believe that this is part of the culture. When you go shopping for items you want, very seldom will you be able to find everything you want in one store or super market. They make you go to other shops, maybe it is part of the sharing the wealth process rather than having competing prices and attempting to draw the customers that way. I usually walk, so the added exercise is a bonus I guess.-

The pizza comment was actually a joke.. sorry I know it's hard to tell on a forum.
Life is what you make of it. I don't need rose colored glasses to lie to myself that I enjoy something that is not enjoyable. What I do need is to change my attitude with the change in environment/country etc. That's how I stay happy in life. May not work for you or other people, but it has for me

The Philippines is for me and what I see and experience do not get to me as the locals say don,t get high blood. If I did not like it here I sure as hell would not be living here for 15 years and my glasses are not rose colored. Nice to see a thread that created some interest and different opinions. Love ya all.

You must be a holdout from the British Raj. I don't know what you mean by "White People" but the parts referring to individuals doesn't ring true. The parts that seem more nationalistic doesn't seem to encompass "White People" but rather seems to be referring to the US, not white people, white people have no more claim on it than any other color of people and is a mixed bag of true and not true, the last sentence though is pretty laughable and pretty offensive to the Filipinos, lucky that most have a pretty good sense of humor about these things.
