    True - but sometimes adult humour can be done in such a way that it passes over youngsters' heads. I await with baited breath for the answer to this mystery. Perhaps it is Tom Hanks who has it.

    I have asked about this several times, I mean, why not burn a hot fire so there isn't so much smoke and put it out when it is done, why this preference for a smoldering, stinking smoke pot? I've been told that they were taught the smoke from leaves is actually good for plants. I don't think that is the whole answer, but it might be part of it.

    Why? Why not try and change the rules? Society rules change all the time, and that is often from outside sources, so why not try and change things if you are up for the challenge?

    Please don't try to speed up the Westernization/modernization of the Philippines. If you want to live in the West go back to the West. Some of us like the Philippines, with all its faults, the way it is. Also, most foreigners currently living in the Philippines wouldn't be able to afford to live in the Philippines if it developed enough to stop all the foreigner whinging. Most would have to move to another underdeveloped country...and then start complaining about how that country isn't developed enough, so they can start the process of shooting themselves in the other foot. Stupid is as stupid does.
