When i was in Bayawan the dog catchers came around every week a guy on a bike to find and shoot the dog and 3 men in a truck to collect the body. Sounds cruel but every kid could ride a bike or people could walk there dog with out the worry of stray dogs being a problem . But why not here?

I agree that it is the responsibility of the owner to keep their dogs off the streets, properly fed and immunized would go a long way as well. I've seen some local dogs that do not leave their "yard" but most are just running wild. I'm a dog owner/lover as well but if dogs can not be taken care of then I am all for dog catchers to capture and cull (too bad you can't do that to the irresponsible owners).

Sad thing is many of these dogs aren't even really strays but belong to Filipino's who just leave them out and don't really give a d*mn about them. They seem to think having a dog around at times that they occasionally throw scraps to will somehow protect them. More of my near hits from dogs like this I can tell isn't a stray but someones dog.
So rather then just putting the dogs down how about putting some of the owners down as well? After all nothing will change when the owners don't face any dangers and obligations towards their dogs.- Agree x 4

On the way home tonight on the bike (YBR) going up to Valencia with my gf I was going about 60-70kph and suddenly see a black shadow in the middle of the road about 20 meters in front of me. Knew it was a dog (eating something in the road) but couldn't tell which side the head was on. I guessed the head was on the left so I went right (hoping it would take off to the left). I was wrong. As I swerved to the right the dog took off running to the right.
I JUST missed hitting the Labrador sized dog, which most certainly would have caused me and my gf to come flying off the bike. The dog was almost as certain of the collision as I was as it let out a big yelp right as I passed it (and somehow I didn't even clip its tail). Normally I would have given a good swift kick and punted the mutt but it was such a large dog that kicking it would have most certainly knocked me off my bike and I was almost certain I was going down that I was only concerned with holding on as tight as I could.
These mutts need to be put down. They are dangerous and can get people killed!- Agree x 5

Here's the dog laws, now all one has to do is get them enforced.
Supposedly all barangays now have 2 trained dog catcher people. Has anyone ever seen them do anything ?

Once riding down Perimeter road in Angeles city a local came screaming past me probably going 100kmh as we neared the turnoff for VFW Post 2485 and a dog came running out into the street the local slammed on the brakes to avoid the dog but just fishtailed right into the large dog with such force it catapulted him off the bike and unfortunately right into a concrete telephone pole head first. Needless to say he was not wearing a helmet and died immediately. As for the dog the bike hit it squarely in the middle of the back and severed it's spine and it was trying to run away but only had use of his front legs and was just making horrible noises and going in circles until another local came out and put the dog out of it's misery. Very sobering incident to say the least. Since then I ride very defensively and at speeds safe for road conditions only.- Like x 2

There are plenty of stray mutts everywhere around here,I see the same ones every day when taking the kid to school, most of them don't even bother to move if your on a bike!
When in the pick up I drive at them, they either move or a 2.ton truck will flatten them. They shouldn't be on the roads!- Like x 1
