The original reasons I moved to the Philippines are not the same as my reasons for staying. Probably best I not talk about my original reasons for moving to the Philippines but the reasons I stay are: Weather Laid back/slow lifestyle Cheap beer cheap smokes cheaper rent (though I have to accept a lower standard) My gf Friends with similar interests These are in no specific order. I do find that when I go back to the US that I have problems relating to my old friends. I have lived a very different life than most all of them and their small redneck town problems seem quite avoidable and minor to me. It makes it very hard to have any empathy with them.
good point - i agree, the beer and smoke makes it complete :-) also, i feel alienated when i am back in old europe, all the hustle n bustle between two alternatives, work or war, roughly said. germany started 2 world wars, philippines 0. I know the reason.
