I have a multicap for over 4 years now , when I bought it lots of problems ,it was badly build up in the phillipines so spends some time rebuilding it myself(I restore vintage cars and bike's in europe) and now have run it without any problems for over 3 years now , with lots of overloading ,and bumpy roads I think its one of the best cars to run around ,
Iam that crazy about these multicaps I did buy a brand new one in Japan , and send it to europe , its a full option model ,powersteering,AC , Winch lifted , 660 cc 4 cylinder 16 V topspeed 130 KM/h ,almost can't handel that kind of power:rolleyes:
my advice is repair your multicap yourself , there are some haynes manuels that you can buy ,and there so easy to work on , or have it made in duma ,and it wil work for a day . Also there's a American building multicaps in Cebu for the US and Canadian Market , a bid more expensive but at least you wil get it home

I know this is an old thread but, does anyone know if the parts that come over here from Japan, are they new?

Luke....I suggest you print this out and use it as your guide. What Larry (Shadow) has told you here is perfect and true!
I've had my 'Surplus" Suzuki (ha,ha) 4X4, 12 valve since late 2007. (Larry may remember when I had some initial problems and wanted to go to his place for him to fix everything). I got lucky and found a decent, reasonably priced mechanic in my own town. They are GR8 for hauling supplies, concrete, stones, long pipes ( be sure to have red plastic bags to tie on the ends!!). I had mine 'raised up' and run 13 " tires, but wider than normal. They are very light in the rear end, over the tranny, so at times, on inclined pavement, your rear wheels may spin...but somebody will notice your difficulty, jump in the rear bumper to add extra weight, and you'l back up just fine....LMAO!
I get between 11-13kpl and do not use the 4X4 drive much...mostly only in heavy rainy season when our uphill road is really muddy. With the Air Conditioner on, mileage drops DRAMATICALLY - down to 9kpl, and even less. I only use my a/c on a really, really, really hot day, or a hot and rainy day to defog the windshield.
Bear in mind it's still a truck- not a car....and the ride IS 'stiff'. I know they can be bought with a 'softer' suspension system, but I don't know the extra cost or wearability. They can be cramped for a long legged guy, as well.
Mine i s old enough that for several years now, I no longer have to "give way" to the pushy, me-first pinoy - or a new, big expensive SUV...they don't want top get bumped and dent their nice vehicle, where on mine....it's okay! So I usually will win any attempt by them to push me out of their way...unless the other guy is really a lot bigger than me! LOL!
Parts are everywhere! But remember...they all ALL used and NO guarantee. A good surplus shop MIGHT allow a return for replacement, but that's it - if you return the part within 5 or 7 days...strictly up to the shop owner.

I think you will find it is 3 years, not 6yrs, it is so expensive to register due to the pollution laws they sell them off to the wreckers, in AU we use to import the jap parts for budget repairs, but were no allowed to re build a car out of parts.
I had a chop chop here and the steering arm had been cut and welded, this is a cast steering component, in any western country you would be jailed for such an act.

After seeing what they did I was scared every time I hit a big bump.

Best, for the lower price, is to go to Cebu city. You can visit many places that also sell the same vehicle here in Duma, but here they will be thousandS more!

One can often save P5-P10 thousand pretty easily by going to Cebu. However, one must also keep in mind that these are not new vehicles, they are put togetehr from scrap yard parts, and almost always there are bugs to work out. It would not take too many trips to Cebu to fix a few minor problems to make up the difference, or, plan on paying someone here to do it or doing the work ones self.

Some of the prices I have seen for multicab pickups online are outrageous when you consider that the suggested retail price for a new Suzuki Carry pickup with 1.6 liter engine is 460k piso and comes with a 3 year 100,000 kilometer warrantee.
