My daughter and I were talking recently and the subject came up.
With the greatest of respect to those members who have one or more, I have never seen the point in covering ones body parts with permanent Tattoo's :o
Would be interested to find out the reasons individuals chose to do so.
    No offence intended, just curious......JB

People been getting tattoos for a long time and for a lot of different reasons.
It isn't wrong or odd, it's something that humans do.
I have a tattoo, got it many years ago in Olongapo, it represents something important and personal to me.
To others that see it, hopefully they'll appreciate a serious, tasteful, artistic, well thought out piece of talented tattoo art.

    Military!

Hi JB, way back in the 60's,70's it would normally be an ex-Military type that had these done, Well for me Anyway, I have one, only because it was the done thing. Having said that, I have known them be a great source of identification in war zones, where other Means were not available at once.

Way back when I was in High School, some students that were trying to be popular were sticking ink needles in their hand tattooing themselves with no artistic talent and was very ugly in my opinion.

At home my dad had a large one on his arm that he always said he regretted, it was his high school sweet heart before he met my mother. When I was working in Hong Kong I came really close to getting one but decided not to.

I had a Canadian lady friend that had a very thin ornate bracelet tattoo on her ankle that was done according to customs in Tonga, I liked that one a lot. So I'm neutral on the idea.

It isn't good for students here because many employers won't hire someone with a tattoo, I have heard them refer to them a tramp stamps.

I have a large tattoo on my back that I have always liked and never regretted.
I gave it a lot of thought and sought out the best artist I could find to do it. The one suggestion I would make to anyone contemplating a tattoo is put it somewhere not to difficult to cover up for job interviews or other situations where it might not be appreciated.

agree. i remember seeing photos of people on the internet with tattoos covering their entire body and face and wondering what were they thinking. i don't have one, but i'm not exactly averse to the idea. i think a discreet tattoo is great to mark a special time in your life.

During My last trip there this past January I met a really nice Guy at the Black Pearl Bar. I forget His name, but I believe He was originally from France and has been living in Dumaguete for a quite some time now. He told Me that He's a tattoo artist and His Studio is right above where the old Rosantes Restaurant used to be. He asked Me if I had any tattoos and I told Him the only tattoo that I ever liked was the one on Fantasy Island...joke joke. I was also impressed that He was almost fluent in Visayan. His rates seemed pretty reasonable too.. Does anyone out there know His name, because I can't remember....cheers

    cheers

    PS:
I have a few tattoos since 20 plus years and never regretted 1 single stitch of it., that's probably longer than most valuable readers were or will be happy with their wife(s), so the question should be tattoo or marriage, hehe  :D
