Just finished reading the article. Pointing to US/foreign officials as the cause (which plenty of people did in the comments section...and the article attempted to do) is disingenuous. It was the Marcos family that stole all the money, not foreign politicians. Sure, foreign politicians might have turned a blind eye, or even offered advice/assistance in hiding the money, but it was the Marcos family (and their Filipino political allies) that should take the blame. Also, the Filipino people elected him and allowed the family to steal billions....they need to recognize and understand that their votes have consequences. This is not something that they can point the finger and blame someone else. They are ultimately responsible for the state of their country...yet they continue to vote exactly the same way, refusing to learn from the past.
