I'm confused, Dumaguete used to be called " The City of Gentle People" which I agree, it's people really are gentle compared to other cities in the archipelago. But now, a lot locals insist, that Dumaguete is really called a "University Town" I don't get it, if its a university town how come there's only 3 universities and 1 state university compared to other cities that they really do have a lot of schools and not to mention with branches of La salle, Ateneo or UP? Are we dreaming here? Please enlighten me. Thanks!

there are more than that isn't there? I believe in relation to its size Dumaguete is considered to have a high number of colleges and Universities

    Gentle People!

All publicised Adverts for Dgte refer it to "The City of Gentle People" The Webs of learning will say UNI TOWN. There are I believe, 7 UNI's in Dgte. For a City of 118.00 (approx) population, I think this is pretty Good. I prefer, to have it know as Gentle People. Safer and more laid back, Time to think, Time to study, No wonder so many Good Degrees come from here. (Do they?)

True Jack, in terms of the OP's question they are not changing the moniker of Dumaguete, it continues to be "The City of Gentle People". Always thought that was a pleasant way to refer to a town

I believe it was my fault.

    www.dumagueteinfo.com/university-in-dumaguete-city.php

This web site gave it as 7 uni's, in fact it is 4Uni's and several colleges, another site gave it as 7 universities and colleges. My mistake sorry.

Interestingly, the STI College here offers only a 2 year program while the Fort Bonafacio STI offers a 4 year degree program.
