Agree with this; it takes very little to lose a clearance and all of the companies working with the US government will drug test you. When I retired from the AF and went to work for the first company they tested me right away even though I'd spent 20 years getting random tests. When I landed in Turkmenistan last year the 1st day on site I was tested, fortunately the Safety Manager had a kit that would activate within 5 minutes if you were positive for anything. All companies I've spoken with require you to pass a drug test as a requirement for employment, even the ones where the position does not require a clearance.

I worked at a place once where a guy was eating a powdered sugar donut and the powdered sugar that fell off he used his drivers license to chop it up and scrape it into lines on the breakroom table. We all got drug tested over powdered sugar.

I do relate about being treated (sorry, was this her problem?) as a foreigner in one's home country, but then again, when I feel that they assume I still behave like I used to before I left the Philippines, I don't like it either. So that's it. When I started to learn the new language by heart which was absolutely the best way to learn the new culture, and when I stopped associating with my fellow Filipinos in the Philippines as well as those that are here in Japan, I become a foreigner in both worlds. My bf feels the same but anyway, when we move to the Philippines in the future, we will probably be to old to care.
