MetroCebu News 26/05/15 Dumaguete City (PNA) -– The Consulate of the Russian Federation and the Department of Tourism, in cooperation with the provincial government of Negros Oriental through its Tourism Office, will be holding a one-day seminar in Dumaguete City on Russian culture, language and other key areas related to the tourism industry. The activity, dubbed, “Meet Russia: Russian Lifestyle, Culture and Language Seminar In the Key Tourist Destinations for Russian visitors”, will be held Tuesday at a hotel in Dumaguete City, the capital of Negros Oriental. Director Rowena Montecillo of the Department of Tourism in Region 7 was quoted as saying that Negros Oriental is being recognized as a “choice destination” for Russian tourists. The seminar aims to provide tourism players a comprehensive understanding of the Russian market and will enable the province to serve them better, she was further quoted as saying. Maritoni Mascardo of the Provincial Tourism Office said the seminar is on a first come, first served basis and will be attended by Director Montecillo and Consul Armi L. Garcia, consulate of the Russian Embassy, who will deliver their respective messages. A representative from the Russian Embassy will speak on Russian history and culture while another talk on understanding the Russian market will follow. Just FYI: Russia is number 6 in web-traffic to this website for 2015. Philippines US Australia Canada UK Russia Though they have the highest bounce rate of any country in the top 10 at almost 80%. (Bounce rate is the percentage of visitors to a particular website who navigate away from the site after viewing only one page.) However, last month Russia was number 3 behind the Philippines and the US..... (But an even higher bounce rate of 91% for the month. My guess for the bounce rate is the lack of Russian language on the website.)
Most Unfortunate in this case then, that we Lost our Resident Russian Members Niskavitch are a Russian married Couple that were very Pro DI at one time. problems from last year steered them away but they are still around having now moved back into the Area. Maybe just maybe we can see if we can draw them back. How, I am not too sure but.................... JP
My sister in law has a place in Cyprus, very nice good neighbours etc etc. Then the Russian tourists moved in drinking non stop causing trouble, ruining the reefs. Fortunately, since recent troubles with their economy, Crimea and Ukraine, the numbers have dropped off considerably. I shouldn't lump all Russians together, but unfortunately we are all tarred with the same brush once one of our own acts like an idiot.
Sure, but we don't like it when people do it to us. I honestly don't think that Dumaguete or the Philippines is going to tolerate the Russia Mafia the same that Thailand (Pataya) has. The second they start causing problems they will be declared persona non grata. I'm perfectly fine with Russians vacationing and relocating to Dumaguete. This is different from Americans, Brits and Australians how?
