You must have went up a different way than we did. The way we went up was through Liptong Valencia (past the cemetery and up) to Timbao Bacong, was pretty rough. We made it in two wheel drive, but our ground clearance is much better than Norm's rear engine van. Sure you didn't go up through Mampas past the big tower?

We saw nothing graded until on the way down toward town of Bacong.

i did the road in question, from timbao once, on the back of a moto but i wasn't paying much attention to the route, just hanging on. i remember there was one rough stretch going when going down a steeper grade, that's when i was hanging on the tightest 8 )

    here's a map.
any ideas on which way to go in the oval area? A? or B?

    thanks guys...

I went up "A". I haven't been through "B" in several years. "A" is pretty rough, you will make it but it will be a slow bouncy ride and you will have to watch your ground clearance.

well... we finally did the timbao/valencia trip and it wasn't all that bad. there's been some road base build up with sand/dirt that looked to be graded by one of them low hanging tryke mud flaps (the wide ones on the backend) and some new concrete laid in the last few years. still no bridge at the river crossing but we had enuf clearance that we didn't get swept over the edge. there's some nice views from the timbao side of the river crossing...

    thanks guys...
