Yep, look at the Elections here and imagine that not the rich Candidate that bought all the Votes, but the one that has the best capabilities would actually be elected and maybe things would change, but I am only dreaming of course...

Simple Mind, I say the same thing after elections in the US. People will trade loaves of bread for their children in the future for a crust of bread today.

If you are talking about occupation and rebuilding of countries after a war is over, I agree whole heartedly that that money would be better spent elsewhere.

While I would agree that Space Exploration has benefitted us with it's Technology in the past, Do we really need to know if Mars will sustain life as we know it?
Apart from the total waste of lives in WW2 and the destruction caused, you only have to look to Germany now, the most stable economy in Europe,sometimes one can be forgiven for asking who really won the war!
As for the rebuilding of Countries after war, once again it is the innocent who suffer, life never changes for them, maybe I'm becoming a pacifist in my old age.
