Your the clerks, guards, receptionist and call center agents who are over worked and underpaid. Your one of the most "educated" labor forces in the world for low paying jobs. And you will be lucky to get these jobs with 4 years of university education! A call center agent in my country is one of the lowest paying jobs around. Their labor turnover is ridiculous. Nobody wants the job and those who work at these don't tell their friends because they are too embarrassed.

The only way you are going to get somewhere here seems to via nepotism. Or, create your job!

Maybe someone else can put a more positive spin on this?

I'd say a large percentage of business expansion in US communities comes from people who've worked somewhere and gotten experience, then deciding to do the same thing themselves. Filipinos can do the same thing "if they are motivated". Motivation is the key; and it's lacking in PI. College vs jobs available is certainly not the entire problem.

Small business is still an option for those with a plan; and there are good ideas from the West for the average Filipino to do if they'd just get off of FB and start using the internet for its real value. Otherwise you're just another grad with a diploma. Grads are more mature and are survivors (Darwinism) but they're still looking at 500,000 grads a year throughout PI. That survivor instinct may have them doing something outside their degree someday so in the end it's all good. (potentially)

Darwinism is a theory of biological evolution developed by Charles Darwin and others, stating that all species of organisms arise and develop through the natural selection of small, inherited variations that increase the individual's ability to compete, survive, and reproduce.

College in any country is sort of a shotgun approach to higher education with no guarantees of a job after graduation.

It's better overall to have a surplus of people here with college educations than not. These are the generations that - with the help of the internet/social media, will eventually turn this country around as they unite online to get rid of corruption etc and stop the public from voting for under-qualified candidates. (someday)

Grace Poe's adverts during her recent senatorial campaign usually ended with the phrase, "Anak ni FPJ" (I'm the daughter of Fernando Poe Jr/movie star), after talking a lot in her advert about what a hero for the people her dad was in the movies; now she's running for president and leading the other candidates in recent polls.

I for one am very dissatisfied with national govt here after emailing the IPO office twice about the same subject, using an email address that actually used the director's ? name@yahoo.com or whatever and got no response. I tried to email PNoy about it but the Contact Us link on the President's website was dead.

I have a very good idea for a product line that is basically Dgte-specific, but I know it'd be copied within the week after its debut. The DTI office here says trademark disputes are handled by the Manila IPO office.. No enforcement would be coming from NBI/DTI locally. So it'd seem I'd have to wait on some lazy official in MNL to decide whether he's going to do his job or not.

Result, a business that could have contributed to the local economy never gets off the ground.

If any candidates bring their campaign to Dgte I'll try to get their view on the IPO office.
