Threads that Turn Controversial

Sometime ago (not too long though) a Forum was Started that brought a few upsets, some posts on this should never have been made and I admit some by me. Just recently, we have seen 2 Threads that turned into Controversial issues, ending up in mere Point Scoring by a few. Can I ask as a proud member of DI, that we keep in mind, this Forum ( Politics & Controversial Threads) was a place members could go Head to Head if they wanted to. Today, all I can see is 2 members (with some side bar here and there) on the Shabu Thread, Just point Scoring at this point. I am not going to Interject on that Thread. It really does not directly involve me now. I said my bit at the beginning. I think the other Thread about Mr Cohen will finish soon or at least the controversial side.

Do you think, it right and fair to the rest of the members here, to have this every day when you now have a Forum to take it to ?
Come on guys, we hear often enough, We are all grown up and we are all Big Boys here. So please, do the right thing, When the thread gets to a Controversial ( Which can lead to a personal issue) level, ask for it to be Moved.

With the Utmost respect to those Concerned (Tony & Wrye) it can only lead to Bad feeling between 2 respected and Good Contributing Members here.
The forum is there, Why are people still using the main Board for Threads when they get to this level.

I agree that the degree of discord has grown to a level that I guess recently has led to the banning of a long time member. I for one appreciated his eloquence and his forethought in his post. I was thinking just this morning 2192 views on the Mr. Cohen thread and all i could think was that more than a fair number will not return, because of the vitriole directed to members in that thread who in the long run were vindicated because that was a venting of other social media. But the damage is already done. I personnally have seen no other input in this Forum on anyother subject that the poster had any contribution to the group. Maybe an oversight on my part. But then I digress.

 

This Illustrates my point exactly, had that Thread been Moved to the Place it should have been many posts ago, no one would have been banned.

Great Pity ! All this has happened. The tools were in place, just not used.

One thing I learned early as a boat owner. Don't leave the helm too long as to lose control of the ship.

 

Have a GR8 rest of your day Wrye, I am not qualified to answer the "banned" under their username) as I am no expert on the software used here. Just reading Larry's answer to Robert K I may have made a wrong assumption.

 

Wrye. I believe Tom may have been referring to this post by Larry, I have to Admit that I took it to mean the same thing but am Guilty, of not checking it. maybe I too jumped the Gun a little. :o
