    When I Rome do as the Romans do. America resisted roundabouts for many years. Now you cant drive ten blocks without a roundabout. One statistic, deaths, are much greater in countries with highly developed roadways than here because they are able to drive faster. Accidents here result in less death and injuries because the speeds are less because of goats on the roadway.

    It protects the lack of competition from outside competition. Keeps Filipinos paying Maserati prices for Chevrolet..

    I remember before the Trike Strike a year or two ago prices were quite high. Ran into a girl pushing a motorcycle near the gas station that tried to pawn me her necklace for gas money. Didn't take the necklace as she seemed quite upset about having to pawn it so I had the attendant put P50 into her tank and considered it a donation. (She was very cute....and that act of kindness REALLY pissed off my gf who was on the back of my bike at the time. She didn't buy my story about "good karma". I believe her reply was, "BS! You are just trying to 'karma' your way into her p*ssy." Where is the Filipino stupidstition, err I mean "superstition", when you need it? lol)

    What are your assumptions on “high level on corruption”?
    My hypothesis is in most cities there are kickbacks for rewarding contracts. I mean why else would politicians around the world spend to enter politics. Civic pride? In this example, Dumaguete would be no different than any other city you could live in. Wait! Davao is crime free isn’t it?

    I'd agree with that except the high level of corruption. I'd rather see the traffic become less though as well!
