explanation: Moron comes from the Greek word moros, which meant "dull" (as opposed to "sharp"), and used to describe a person with a mental age located between 8 and 12....

... and who ever is in charge of the City-planning does not even reach that.. All North-South roads are under construction and all I can see is that some workers digging more holes in the few drivable streets.

I am sure there is a reason why they are not doing one street at a time, bringing all the workers to that side and finish it in two weeks and than moving to the next street.

A very obvious side-effect is that some smaller businesses downtown just need to close down as it is not possible to reach the stores anymore since months. I guess the ex-employees can apply in the street-construction business. Looks like a pretty safe job for the next 5 or 10 years...

How bad I gotta go to town now...:(

i've actually seen manchester doing this exact same thing, where every major route into the city was under construction/repair!! the reason?... they had to spend the annual budget b4 year end!!!

See it from the positive side..........soon (?) we will have very good roads all over Dumaguete.
It's better to have this rubbish for a certain time than seeing no improvements over years.
    Improvements there are !!!

Actually its adds to the fun finding a new route to get to A to B. Consider there maybe a logic to this road development plan and on the business side I have seen and used shops that I had no idea existed before and I have gained the knowledge to be come a taxi driver in Dumaguete, lol

What I seriously mean there is a plan but we the traveller can not see the bigger picture. These little guys with sparkling eyes flat noses and broad smiles do things differently but there is logic in what they do its because your a foriegner you just dont get it. Perhaps your filipino partner can explain but of course that may confuse you more, lol

I for one would like to salute the planners and the development of infastructure in Dumaguete its going to be pot hole free and make the city look more modern and a better place to travel around in.

I was going to post a plan on how to get to MacDonalds but on second thought it would take out the exitement and the adventure. lol

sorry, I live since almost 8 years in the PI... bigger picture ??? logic ??? absolutely double-no ...

that is probably one reason why I love it here so much, there is too much logic and too many pictures (in each size) in the world I am coming from...

got to agree with Rhoody here, road planners the world over don't use logic, they use budgets, i can't believe the philippines use any different plan to there modernisation program

Ah ahhh and all that time you have not sat down and thought about filipino logic , lol of course there is logic thinking going on here, its just that language barrier that blocks it all out to those that come from a culture where we can throw things away.

The shear brillance of filipino logical thinking can keep a motor bike, car or any machinery going well past its sell by date. Yes there is a bigger picture concerning this road construction, what you do not realise that everybody knows what is going on by word and mouth and in the magic world of the text generator the cell phone. you the poor foriegner will find a road blocked that was not blocked yesterday in fact the norms three roads blocked. But the local filipinos know about it and that its going to happen days before the event. lol In fact within minutes of entering dumaguete a non dumaguete resident filipino visitor will know also.

If you queery why a job is being done in a certain way, you do not understand thats the way its always been done it works and your modern ideas or gizmos will fowl up what is known to work. give a workman an electric saw or drill and he will use a handsaw and old fashion drill. The logic is he or she knows he could chop off a finger or break your modern equiptment.

Oh dear you have such a lot to learn about this place and I think you have spent too much time under water or the cold beer as befuddled your mind, lol

The only way I can truthfully explain Filipino logic is once you have learnt algebra and then move on to Boolean algebra you will then be able to work out Filipino logic with ease. lol

To be truthful some of us expats have no true clue what is going on around us but we think we do, mostly we get it wrong and my filipina partner will vouch for that she is always telling me I am wrong even when I am right.

Have you worked out filipino time yet, yes its simple the watch is a fashion symbol and only a few citizens can afford them so the ones that have got watches do not want to look like a show off so they simply do not look at the watch to check the time, those that dont have watches can never be blamed for being late on a cloudy day. lol

Filipino's dont you just love them, I do and I have also learnt to respect them for what they are and I realised a long time ago they think most foriegners are not only american but mad. We should all learn how to be layed back lose our arrogance and realise the ways of our filipino cousins are different but well meant.

I have said what I wanted to say, nothing harmful and actual with a comic respect and nothing to do with any comic science fiction character from Hitch hikers guide to the galazy? I can't see the point? totally confused

I was expecting some light humor back, however sorry if you were offended as it was not intended.
