⌛ Travel Guides for the Philippines

My visits over the last 10 years have been limited to the northern areas but based on my experience Jens Peters has produced the best travel guides for the Philippines.
The 1994 Lonely Planet Philippines travel guide set the standard for what a good travel guide should be.
When I felt it was time to finally get an updated copy I was sorely disappointed with the lastest Lonely Planet Philippines travel guide. I quickly realized that Jens had left Lonely Planet and is now publishing his own. The 2005 Philippines Travel Guide by Jens Peters was up to the quality I expected.
Another guide worth mentioning is the Rough Guide to the Philippines. A quality publication, not quite as good as Jens work in my opinion, but a solid work.
Anybody have experience with these guides in the Visayas?
