Will the reduction in Trike fares, lead to the reduction in the number of Trikes on the road perhaps - ? I agree with Shawn, that most of the Trike drivers are ok, and some are gentlemen and quite courteous - when one is walking and needs a Trike, there are always several available which is the good news, however when I am driving driving around town in my car, there are too many available, which is the bad news - ha ha ha ha ha
What a pain in the @ss. Dealing with change is difficult enough and now they are having to deal with prices in centavos? I will continue giving the 10 pesos just so I don't have to bother with that. On the other hand, they should be grateful to have the opportunity of the profession. Dealing with change is part of the profession. Their problem, not mine and they shouldn't make it my problem. On the other, other hand, there is ideal and there is reality. The reality is that dealing with change is going to be a big problem. These guys need a better system. Maybe the gov needs to create a token / ticket system. That way, most riders don't have to bother with knowing what the rates are for the day and don't have to deal with change.
Pedicab Drivers Strike Update : City Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria who happens to pass by the striking trike drivers made a stop at the junction road going to Canday-ong, Calindagan. He assured the tricycle drivers, something will be done. He will meet with members of the council at 1:00 o'clock this afternoon in his office to suggest a win-win solution which is to meet halfway from P8.50 to P7.50, while the students, pwds and senior citizens will still enjoy the discounts afforded by law. Taken from local news site.
This is their chance to solve the trike problem. Ban them outright or restrict them only to side streets. Absolutely no trikes on the national highway (because that is already the law). Force jeepney routes between the towns and main roads through town. I know it won't happen, but one can dream.
It's enforced in Cebu and a few other places but just remember how much the trike driver raised for the mayors re election a couple years ago
I thought it was rather pleasant walking round town, no noisy trikes taking up most of the roads. Wife and I usually take up a ride daily on the trikes. We always give P10 around town, and coming home to Bacong Sacsac normally with shopping we give P100. Will continue to do so.
I can recall having to make several stops around town by trike with a party of 3 and I found it much easier to hire the trike for half a day. Having an economical vehicle may not pay for itself but the convenience [except parking] makes up the rest for me. When I ran into the pirates around Robinsons who wanted 50 piso to take off, I just got out and started walking and I wouldn't get 20 meters on the National Highway before a trike would pick me up and take me on the next leg of my journey in town for 10 piso.
After talking to several people who have been in town today and seeing the local news so many people have said how peaceful it was and this is how it should be. There are plenty jeeps running around to sort the people and where they want to go. Even if they cut the numbers in half it would be so much better. As it stands now there are far too many trikes here who just aimlessly drive about looking for fares not caring who they cut infront of. I know it will never change here but today was just an example of what it could be, people get to where they need to which ever way. I just hope one day people will realise how nice the town could be without those bloody trikes.
It just proves they can fix the trike problem, this was posted for tele tech employees to travel home so why not everyone.
