My family and i went to Twin Lakes in Feb 2011, and had a great time! We thought it was well-worth the time, effort & modest expenses. We will go again. But i suppose it depends on what turns you on... others who don't like "simple nature" much have reported being bored -- for me it's a day in upland paradise. See my extensive photos, description and location-info on THIS PAGE.

I grew up around plenty of lakes in Southern Indiana. To me it was just another insignificant lake set in a tropical climate. The parks in the US are far more accommodating, entertaining, with more to do and just as cheap to visit. I was quite disappointed with twin lakes. However if you didn't grow up around 20 or so lakes this might be something you should check out.

There is some very nice scenery along the road to Twin Lakes with great views over towards Cebu and through the surrounding valleys. I also enjoy the various micro-climates as we increase in altitude. We sometimes drive up as far as the park entrance but seldom enter because the lakes themselves are not impressive. We always stop at Azalea's (about 4 km up the Twin Lakes Road) for a snack or a drink to enjoy the view and the atmosphere. I didn't find the road so bad, although steep in some areas, and it gets better every year. If you enjoy the mountains and looking down at the scenery below, it is probably worth the trip. However, I wouldn't really recommend the habal-habal ride and if you are just learning to drive a scooter, you may want to get some practice before trying to manouver that road.

As said, if you get into "unspoiled nature" with a peaceful mind, Twin Lakes will be great for you, as it was for me and my kin. If you would prefer an amusement-park atmosphere with lotza people and activities, that's cool, indeed go elsewhere. Balanan Lake Resort is another favorite of mine (except for the biting ants at the lower pools!) -- everytime we go, i have to be dragged away when the wifey & relatives want to leave.

That "2nd Lake", the smaller one on the other side of the observation-tower ridge, and the forest around it, is a bit of land & water as untouched-by-humans as you'll find in all of Asia -- kudos to the Philippines & NO & Dum for preserving it like that -- if you can dig that sortta thing, this is yer place! I have some friends who would flip to go there, to watch and hear and contemplate.... Others have other preferences & priorities, So Be It.
