I have made several changes to the forum rules due to recent issues I have been seeing. These changes are mainly concerning the Showcase section of the website. Here are the changes:

I have said most of this before elsewhere on the forum so none of this should come as any surprise. The only change to really take note of is how businesses are allowed to advertise and promote their business on the website:

All business listings, advertising and promotional posts MUST be made in, and only in, the Showcase section. When creating a Showcase item a forum thread will automatically be created in the appropriate forum sub-forum. The thread linked to a showcase thread is for general discussion about the business and also provide a place for businesses to reply to customer discussions (not to post promotional posts). All businesses are allowed to make one (1) promotional post per month in the Showcase comment section.

I will create a notice about this update on the forum so that everyone will see these changes.

Quick reminder about posting "sexual" content on the forum: Please don't do it.

Google hit me up on an Adsense sexual content violation. The content in question was posted well over a year ago in the Funny Stuff section. Guess they just got around to seeing it. Moved the post in question to the NSFW forum where Adsense is suppressed. If you have permission to view that you can follow the link.

I didn't find it very offensive myself so I guess it's best just to post Google's rules on the subject so everyone knows how the new moderator in town feels about it :shifty:
I suppose the post in question would have violated the 3rd.......and possibly the 4th rules? I'm not sure. :meh:

    Googlerator also says......
    :coffee2:

    Finished yet, Google? :meh:

I am not sure where you are really going with that so I'm just going to make an assumption here. (If I read your post wrong I apologize in advance.)

As for infringing on anyone's freedom of speech:
Private individuals/companies have the right to make their own rules/terms of use.

To test this out: go into Wal-Mart (or any other store) with a shirt that has a naked woman on it and walk up to the manager and start cursing at them. When you are asked to leave refuse and say they are infringing on your right to free speech. After the police have came and arrested you and you post bail, file a case against the business and the police. Report back and let us know how that worked out.

They can post "ANY words they want to"? There is "nothing they cannot say"? Can they now? I spend quite a bit of time on that forum myself and I am absolutely certain that is not true. (Next time you are over there try starting a thread about younger women dating older men. Start a thread about internet dating and provide links. Post your email, phone number or address. Try creating a thread similar to a Showcase style listing on DI. Be snide and sarcastic to someone asking for help. Openly contest admins, moderators and the forum rules and compare it to another forum while doing so. Give any of those a try and let me know how it goes.)

You can post any word here you want. There is a list of words that get replaced with "****". Other than that there is absolutely moderator action that will be taken against a user. Everyone knows what word goes in the ****'s, the meaning is not lost. Almost any topic is permitted here as well, so long as it is in the right section of the forum. Now, if you are being disrespectful and making personal attacks, that's a different story. Allowing everyone to have diarrhea of the mouth and say whatever they like to whomever they like will always lead to flame wars and a forum that helps nobody. If you find a forum that lets you say WHATEVER you like (absolutely no rules or guidelines), is open for everyone to join and still somehow manages to remain active and helpful please share that link because I would like to see how they are doing it.
