    Got it! My parents put the plywood ON TOP the mattress - childhood was hell.

    Uratex has an orthopedic foam (Permahard Deluxe) to which you are probably referring. There are none to be had at Lee Plaza according to the Uratex Negros sales rep, so I ordered one from Cebu, paid shipping and it was delivered to Siquijor port in just a few days. I have had a bad back for years (who doesn't?) and was waking up with a backache every morning, not thinking it was the foam bed. I only figured this out when I had to stay in Cebu for over a month on a Uratex mattress in the hotel where I stayed; no backaches for the entire stay in Cebu. The foam bed was not the Permahard Deluxe, but it was the next step down in firmness which would probably suit you. The new foam is definitely more dense than I had imagined, but I am adjusting without any problems.

    I found a very soft mattress (I'm a side sleeper so I need a soft mattress to keep my arms/shoulders from hurting/falling asleep and to keep my spine neutral) at Mandaue Foam but I did not find any in the right size. I was the only person on the second floor and nobody seemed interested in helping out so I just left. I may go back and buy/order at a later date.
