    Also from RA 7610.

    (a) "Children" refers to person below eighteen (18) years of age or those over but are unable to fully take care of themselves or protect themselves from abuse, neglect, cruelty, exploitation or discrimination because of a physical or mental disability or condition;

Important points are in bold. This seems to apply to most Filipina's I have seen with foreigners. Most of you are breaking the law. Sorry.

The article makes an attempt to explain this. The raid turned up large amounts of cash and expensive items. The trafficking component assumes the foreigner provided gifts to the parents and the girl in exchange for "minor" nookie.

The charge of trafficking is what they used to get the arrest. This may change as it goes through the courts.

The best snippet from this article.

“He told us that there was nothing wrong with what he was doing and said his brother-in-law and even his friends are doing the same,” Oliver said.
Guess who bought a plane ticket as soon as this article was published?

Your understanding of "trafficking" and mine seem miles apart. Police here can say what they want to say. And, I do not believe everything written in newspapers! Sure he likely left when he could to avoid a "witch hunt."

Wow, that's a bold statement to make, "This seems to apply to most Filipina's I have seen with foreigners. Most of you are breaking the law. Sorry."

The fact that he was able to buy a plane ticket should speak volumes about this article. Was he actually charged? I call bullshit on this article!

Perhaps the Dude did not mean they bought a ticket literally, or that most guys with Filipinas are guilty (although Im sure they are guilty of something!).
I think what we can take from this is that Human Trafficking laws are written very broadly and the Philippine government misapplies this law to include the average Joe who could be guilty of a much lesser crime or none at all.. These are non-bailable offenses and the filthy judges, attorney's, and cops that the RP is littered with have a fricken field day with the foreigners pension funds. Its also the international buzz of it all that Filipinos are just tickled to think they are actually a part of hahaha. These laws are written by some world Organization and they have recently become center stage in the ahhh, developing world.
    Just follow the money...

Yes, you are correct about the plane ticket. What did he mean by "most guys with Filipinas are guilty (although Im sure they are guilty of something!)." Explain that away!

Perhaps he meant that a lot of the gals that are with foreigners must have a screw loose or something. I threw in the, "they must be guilty of something..."
Take no offense...just a joke brother.

I took it as a joke. The law is meant to protect children (under the age of 18) and the mentally handicapped from being taken advantage of. If the girl is truly 17 he broke the law and deserves whatever comes his way. Personally, I don't think old men should be coming to the Philippines to find underage girls to marry/take advantage of.

Yes, these were all jokes. I suppose you could agree or disagree with the jokes, but that's sort of missing the point of the nature of jokes.

Any law which makes an exception for Filipina's with a mental condition implicates all Filipina's. Therefore, all foreigners with Filipina's are guilty.

A snippet in the article mentioned that the foreigner in question said "my step-brother is doing the same thing." I imagine the step brother is well on his way back home by now.

As for my explanation of human trafficking, I just regurgitated what the article said. The police charged him with human trafficking. A charge isn't a conviction. The same regularly happens in the United States. The police can charge you with whatever they like to bring you in, but those charges may not stick in court.
