I've never had luck with Skype, even with a decent connection. Viber, IMO, Hangouts, Google Voice, Allo, Duo...all much better chat options than Skype for me.
Decided to give the MagicJack GO a try since you don't need a computer with this model. But you do need a standard telephone (wired or wireless). I forgot to pack one on my return from NY and can't find anywhere in town that actually sells wired phones. Tried a lot of places. Both Handyman stores are a no-go...the one in central Dumaguete had some with parts missing. I guess wired phones are passe in Dumaguete. Does anyone know if Lee Plaza might have a department that sells them. I was shopped out and didn't have the energy to fight the rain...it's about the only place I didn't check.
I stumbled across a few "land line" telephones at the hardware section in Hypermart. MagicJack GO works like a charm!
