Having an army is not about being able to "p*ss off other countries". It is about being able to defend yourself. I'm sure the Philippines, and Japan wishes it had a more effective military when it comes to China trying to steal what is rightfully theirs. As do the thousands in Africa that are unarmed and being slaughtered. Would you have them throw rocks at their killers?

If it wasn't for a strong military Israel would not exist. Need I say more? Pacifism will only get you so far, but when someone wants what's yours then what? Give them a smile, a hug, and a kiss?

People are out buying guns in the U.S. based on the threats of their government. Nothing more, nothing less.
