I followed this debate a bit and I'm wondering why not Americans get so heated up over this issue. I think this is only understandable for Americans, where else in the world you have this freedom? of buying/owning guns. I have been in many countries, invited in many homes by locals and expatriates and stayed all together about 5 months in North Carolina. Nearly all people I knew there had an astonishing amount of weapons. Some in proper gun cabinets but what's a lock for a kid or a thief? Hunting rifles, guns and a good amount of hand guns, five up to fifteen was quite normal. I think Americans buy guns (gunshops everywhere) because they're there for sale like TV's, phones, cars, donuts or whatever and that it's more a question of possessing than practical use. Dangerous in the wrong hands as we hear daily but the American industry fabricate weapons and have to sell to exist and keep the labor force happy. SO WHAT!!! it's their country, their kids, their elderlies but weapons against weapons is not a solution as we have experienced in in the past ten thousand or so years.
That is not quite normal. Only 20-25 percent of Americans own a firearm. Blah, the misinformation from both sides really irritates me. I'm done with this thread, I'd say only 5 posts here come from reasonable stances on gun control, the rest of the opinions here come the far left or far right (or people not even us citizens), which contrary to what the US media spews out on tv, is a minority in the US. Remember that Fox and MSNBC are not news channels, they are entertainment channels. Most Americans believe in common sense laws on gun restrictions. Guns ain't going anywhere, the Feds may pass a law but every state opposing will bring the law to the Supreme Court. No law will be put in place anytime soon.

Not all Americans has no brains off course not, more as half of them voted for Obama , I was very happy that they voted again for him. Special after Bush , with President Obama the made the only right choice. I thank all the yes voters for their (we want Obama). Greetings J.Diver
It was not a secret it is in my profile , took a long time before you did know that. Have a nice day Greetings J.Diver
That is not quite normal you say. Only 20-25 percent of Americans own a firearm. Right, according to this artikel I found by wikipeda: If you want to get a rough idea of how many guns there are out there just look at how many people you see out there then multiply by a factor of estimated ownership. The last best guess was about 350,000,000 Total. That would be 1 weapon for every man woman and child. The average gun enthusiast owns several firearms which includes pistols, shotguns, and rifles of all makes and models. It is often estimated that about 1 in 4 people (your 25 %) own any firearms and on average firearms owners own 4 guns each. Say half of them own only one gun that leaves an average of 7 guns pro person for the other half. So with 5 just above average and 15 for the real enthusiast I'm not not far from the mark. And about manufacturing: According to ATF reports, in 2010 there were*5,459,240 new firearmsmanufactured in the United States, nearly all (95 percent) for the U.S. market.** An additional*3,252,404 firearms*were imported to the United States.
Something to think about for all the firearms prohibitionist..... (we all know how well the illegal drugs ban works) View attachment 9064
Here is another incorrect statement - "firearms prohibitionist" - to my knowledge there are no firearms prohibitionst in the USA mentioned or appearing during this debtate ?O-|
