They aren't communist....and there never has been a communist country to ever exist. They are socialist with a stated goal of becoming communist....though their actions and laws don't back up those stated goals. They, and every other "communist" country, have been moving towards an open/free market for quite some time because communism just doesn't work. Human nature will not allow for the communist utopia to ever exist.

We don't need those speeds here. You can't buy a computer here that will handle them, and besides, what would you do? Upload 700 selfies to Facebook a day rather than 200? Plus the fact, a 20 peso prepaid load would last about 1/10th of a second. My wife is trying to get me to read a book. She says she reads but she really doesn't. She only looks at the words.
Seriously, I don't think the internet will get better anytime soon because of the usual factors that come into play here. Telstra from Australia also was making a deal to come in but it fell through due to corruption, collusion and greed. If you are not a member of one of the 40 families that own most of the country, then you are not likely to get in.

Although it would be nice mate, last night I thought I would line up some movies and go to bed, woke up to 28x movies at 22Gb's, now looks like it will take me another few nights to get the rest in the queue dang it! hehe

You certainly can buy computers that can handle those speeds in the Philippines....most just might not be able to afford it. Might be about time the Philippines starts trying to become a developed country so they can attract a bit more quality expat that can afford to spend some real cash in their country.

The speeds in Vietnam are useful to regular internet users. The Philippines just doesn't have many regular internet users yet. They will catch up though and their sh*t internet speeds will only hinder their economic growth.

Then I suppose they would have to do something about those data caps.

Unless those rich families realize they could become even more filthy rich and gain even more power when the Philippines joins the developed world. Eventually they will realize that their billions aren't enough to go around for all of their spoiled, greedy and corrupt little sh*t head children and something will have to change. The wealth in the Philippines is comparatively new. You can only divide the wealth so many times before it ends up becoming chump change to the world's elite.

My sense of humor is strange and sometimes really out there. I was being facetious. Same goes for the 20P data load only lasting 1/10th of a second, all tongue in cheek. I think you are right about the division of wealth diminishing the fortunes to the point of needing to be replinished, but I don't think the change is coming anytime soon. It would be nice for some of the descendants to wake up and smell the money, meaning for them to do what it takes to make some real rest of the world type money, but one never knows when that will happen. Right now we are still in the "isolate the economy, enslave and oppress the general population and rip every peso possible from them and their production" stage.

Sorry, misspelled "replenished" and didn't notice until it was too late.

Yup, and all those old men have huge families that are going to want their cut of what they haven't earned. Cut their fortunes up how it legally should be and it is just chump change on the global level.

Just imagine 1000 people gathered around a single lechon.
Now imagine everyone has a knife in their hand.

You'd need Steven King to write the social page review for that affair.
