Hi Everyone, I have been enjoying many eating / relaxing / drinking / dining (there is a difference between dining and eating IMHO) places here in the Philippines and off course specially here Dumaguete. Again and again during the experience I am asked "How was the meal? Do you like our place? Another drink?", while my wife is totally ignored and I mean TOTALLY. Do the Philippine people consider the wifes / partners / etc of us foreigners as "traitors / enemies / unworthy", similar to how the french treated womenfolk who associated / partied / etc with the germans in WWII. Or how the americans generally treated white / indian and white / negroes relationships. Is there a subtle trace of racism here? Is there just a lack of manners / training / courtesy? Do they understand, that the decision to return to their premises is usually the wife's / partner's? There are obvious exemptions to the above - Gerry's and Casablanca are 2 off them. La Fiesta is another and Scott's place at Castle Cove down south. I expect that is also because of direct management involvement. We found a top floor cafe overlooking the Boulevarde and the Harbor, but I was advised that we will NEVER visit there again - EVER ...................................... And I loved the view / coffee / VIEW.
