Actually, 65% of Americans wanted the new gun laws, and 70% of the Congress did not:cool: Some people should really pay attention to what is going on in their own Country.

I never had a gun in the U.S., but I have one here. Lot's of road rage in the US and if you stay away from those known dangerous areas and are not constantly out late at night chances are you will not be in harms way.
I keep a (wife's licensed) pistol at my home here because I do not have the total home alarm system I had in the US, and in addition, I feel compelled to protect my family and my few assets, as needed. Also, when I die the .380 is small enough for my wife to handle. I would not want someone taking my pistol away.
I do not believe assault weapons should be in the hands of the public, just my POV.
Btw, there is an American living not too far from me that brought over from the US a very complete sensor alarm system, and also has guns in his house.

Don't twist my words. I said that most Americans don't want guns taken away (meaning that they are completely banned/confiscated), that, sir, is a fact. I am for gun control, meaning that there needs to be better measures on who is able to buy one. Background checks, mental health facilities sharing information with agencies responsible for the background checks and so on.

Surely you understand the problems a politician would face if he took away doctor - patient confidentiality rights, which is what would happen if mental health hospitals were forced to release this information. It could also lead to less people seeking mental health help if they knew their rights could be taken away, leading to an even bigger "crazy" problem than the US. Gun laws are a political mine field no matter which side you stand on.

The problem with the left and right is they only see in black and white. It's either their way or the wrong way. Most of America is central in their political beliefs, it seems that only the left and right are so hard up for their causes that they pay people to influence politicians. Which gives the majority of Americans a bad name. The system is broke. Someone should create a common sense party.

This seems to be the problem ........ you do not understand what is happening in your own Country mate, many people just don't realise that the new laws, were not even remotely suggesting taking all guns away from the USA citizens, there were nearly 3,000 types of guns that were not affected by the new laws, only the military, or assault style, or high capacity magazine/clip type weapons.............. lol ............. anyway, this is getting boring, so lets move on to another highly controversial subject shall we ?,................... you pick one.................

Just a note on the mental health issue and how it has happened before.

While in the military if you seek mental health and you end up getting a divorce later on, the spouse is able to get the court to subpoena those documents and deem that the father was unfit to parent and have visitations, even if treatment had solved the mental issues. What did that lead to? Soldiers not seeking help and living with mental disorders and record high numbers of suicides and likely some homicides.

Fixing one problem can lead to another. As a politician I would be very wary of making laws that restrict anybody's rights. You have to look at the big picture and avoid that tunnel vision concerning one issue.

I know they aren't proposing to take away weapons. I don't really have a problem with them banning assault rifles or extended magazines.

Agreed, a bit boring. Thoughts on abortion? O--O

Rather than an abortion debate, may I suggest we have one on genetic engineering. Would you like your new baby to turn out looking like a young Elvis, can sing like John Lennon, and hung like John Holmes, as a result of gene setting? Me, not sure how well my little one will sing.

It looks as though .45 ammo is going for 70 cents to a buck a round, depending how much you buy.

    Search results for: '.45 ammo'

That is why a lot of guys do their own reloading. Bullets are easily made, and 1000 lots of primers and powder is relatively inexpensive. Attention to detail is the key. You can even tailor make your ammo to suite whatever its intended purpose is. Ammo in the Philippines is overpriced and generally of very poor quality.

    True story:

We were checking in at the old Bacolod airport, the one that used to be by the ocean, and the lone security guard had his gun out and was cleaning it while on the job. He also had his ammo out and was polishing each bullet and casing. I asked him how old the ammo was and he couldn't remember, but thought they were at least 8 years old! I didn't get into the point that he should buy new, fresh ammo as it would be a waste of breath and likely he couldn't afford it anyways.

Hmmm....let's see. A security guard that works all day in an aircon environment and then goes home while in a hot and humid environment, next day repeat, for 8 years! I can imagine that a high percentage of that ammo is not going to fire when needed. If it was mil spec or of high quality maybe, but very doubtful if it was the typical Philippine ammo.

Guards......lol what a joke in this country.

My friend has had several guards, one was always sleeping on the the job. One night he took the guard's shotgun while he was sleeping. Took it inside to see how long it would take before he realized.......6am, 5 hours later.

The same friend decided to test fire a pistol in the back yard (stupid I know), the guard, a different one at this time, runs to the back to see who shot the gun......with his rounds still in his pocket. What idiot runs torwards gun fire with a pistol that's not loaded? Waste of money guards are here.
