Not a good idea. For 65 pesos you have a rechargeable led light torch, it is much safer and last for many hours on one charge and you can use it for a few years.
I did not even know that there was such a storm on that day, but it did rain and the wind was blowing a little harder than usual.

An interesting night! Was out at 6am for a drive to dauin,so many power lines and trees down, even the fertiliser factory at San mig has a tree across the entrance and many flooded homes. Had a call from a friend who stayed the night at bacong treehouse to come down as there was a passenger ferry in trouble just off bacong,it looked for a while he was not going to make it as Was so close to the shore, would not have wanted to be on that and could not see any passengers, maybe they were all on the floor! Can't see the leccy coming on today! If that was signal no 1,would not like to be around no 4!
The highway going into dumaguete from Banilad is pretty bad around Bajumpandan. Deep water , all the houses and businesses there are floodded and the Old Banica is closed and looks like some of the houses by the creek have been swept away. Was glad that we did some advance preparation and cleared the storm drains outside our eatery. We didnt get flooded and we are the only one open today. Am guessing that Davyl is a scouser , nobody else says leccy!
Watched the Ever Transporter 3 crew abandonning ship after going aground, in front of the Chinese temple, in Calindagan, this morning at 6:30 am. Never seen so many different rescue services ever at a scene, mostly running around like headless chickens though. Guess they have to justify their existence somehow, even the Dumaguete fire brigade turned up in the bucketing rain. Better late than never the coastguard's inflatable zodiacs without outboards turned up at 8am, once almost everyone was off the ship. Wonder why the coastguard allowed them to leave port in such abysmal weather? I asked that to mayor Chickating who came down to observe the operation, his reply, "Someone's going to have to answer that question very soon". With the amount of flooding in town, guess he's going to be one busy camper for the pre-Christmas run up.
Just in batinguel around 50 houses close to river and the metal bridge gone. People brought with what they could rescue to the school for schelter.
Bambulo rest here in combado has mostly been destroyed by a wall of water,a great shame as the owners have just spent alot of money there!
