I've learned when travelling in the Philippines, and looking for a decent restaurant in an unfamiliar place.
I always look about for a place where Germans congregate to eat. In these type eateries I've always found the food and service to be pretty good.
Germans are not shy about speaking out when theres a problem. Either the diner will have things together, or the German folks won't go near it.

The down side to not complaining is that the place will never improve their product. On the the other side, I have never once had a filipino owned resto come and ask me how the food was, even if I just took one bite out of the dish and pushed it aside, so I don't see any desire from the local owners to improve their food or make customers happy, which is why I rarely complain about food in this country. I know it just falls on deaf ears.

If you're ever in Texas and get an unsatisfactory steak, just call the waiter over and ask for A1 sauce, you'll have a manager there in about half a second asking what is wrong with their steak and replace it ASAP. Most other restos, in almost every country I've been to, will come ask how the meal was.

I agree nice_sherwood, I've heard similar stories about what happens in the kitchen, if you complain.
I would state my complaint and leave never to return.
Another tip I suggest is inspect the C R area before you order, if it's not clean, leave

I didn't say you should not complain if there's a problem but not to make it a habit, but there is 2 types of complaints, 1. Is the polite way of complaining for the better of the establishment or 2, the ones that complains are those idiots that even for a simple thing they want to make a big fuss about it just for the sake of arguing.

I saw a foreigner with his wife and he went berserk over a fly on his food and the staffs went to have a closer look at it, they found out it was actually a whole black pepper and the staff even politely said they will replace it which they did but he instead of apologizing he carried on like he is some sort of "mr.big guy look at me" there and I felt sick in the stomache with all his whinging! The wife wanted him to drop it and forget about it but here he is, had a go with the wife and just kept whinging about the restaurant but his been dining there many times! What kind of an idiot is that?

I just don't understand why some people love to complain and carry on even little things that's not worth complaining about. The problem I see in most of these whingers are when they complain they always want to bring up what it was like in their country and how things get done there but it's different here and you should adapt with the change.

Saw this lady with a foreigner in citihardware, just a total b*tch I must say whoever wife that was need a big punch on her face. Scolded, belittled and humiliated a staff due to a one day delay of their tile order without thinking that those are the things you can't control about. She was raving there for a good 2 hours and followed the poor staff everywhere he went. How silly

The title of this thread, maybe considered offensive by Westerner's and really hasn't anything to do with Customers in restaurants.
I get the point about rude or try it on people, or people who might want the world to sit up and take notice of them.
However why pick on little people, are they really so loud or offensive? I am a small person and God made me that way so that I don't spend most of my time fighting with, the bullies and nasty (taller than me ) persons. PS the use of the word "W-----s might just offend our Lady members......just a thought. JB

I think he meant people that are strapped for cash, not small in stature. But you're right, being an ahole at a resto is not only limited to foreigners.
