Civilization has been a favorite of mine years (decades?) ago and I recently started again with the iPad version.
Also rediscovered chess with the awesome chess.com apps for iOS (but I believe they got android apps and you can play browser based with a PC as well). Amazing post game analysis that clearly points out your mistakes and shows how to do better.

Showing your age. Games are very rarely bought at brick and mortar stores these days. You download them from online stores like Steam, Origin, etc. They let you know if your computer is compatible before purchase. Many stores have a monthly/yearly subscription fee that gives you access to a massive catalog of games in their library.

This is where we need to ask a 5 year old (I am not being sarcastic, just telling the truth). But today's 5 year old may one day struggle to understand future technology (except he/she will probably be connected to the cloud via a brain implant and know everything!).-

I am far from an expert on this, but as no-one has answered you (except for using an emulator) - there are games suited to a PC but the specification of the PC is important (processor, graphics card, memory and other things the experts can explain better). If buying a game it is best to ask the seller (make sure he is a specialist) how it suits your PC.-
