you play ang tay lots of different ways, no driver, no woods, some time play with only 3 clubs, hit from other fairways, putt with your wedge sometimes instead of driver 8 iron to a par 4 , play 8 iron and then the driver sure just playing on course can get very boring Severiano Ballesteros, said playing one course all your life, is like making love to only one woman all you life what can you do ................golf is golf handicap .scratch
I equate that type of golf along the same lines as put-put golf. A course should be challenging enough you don't have to make up your own special rules to make it challenging. (Note: that ANY course is a challenge for me. My best score in 18 at Ang Tay was 7 over.....which had me feeling like I just won the Masters. ) Ang tay is an extremely boring course, if you can hit the ball remotely straight you will have no problems. They could make it more challenging by better placing their hazards. I used to travel quite a bit to play golf in the Philippines. There are some nice courses in Bacolod and Cebu. The price of a round can be a bit outrageous at some of these courses.......but you pay it because you want to play something different. Negros Occiental (or Bacolod) Golf and Country Club is a pretty nice course. Have you ever played there? It is magnitudes better than Ang Tay and well worth the trip IMO.
I still think golf spoils a 2 hour walk! OK OK I'm going Good night all JP Tomorrow is extension day, see you all Lunch time Hmmmmmmmm well whenever
Played a couple of nice courses in the hills east of Manila, Sun Valley and Forest Hills, the latter even has a bunker in the middle of the 18th green (don't see that too often). An expensive exercise, but then I could go back to work and recoup the monies spent, but at those prices I would not play the same course twice. Also I found it a bit intimidating to be in the playgrounds of the elite and wealthy of Manila, when usually I would be playing with my friends who, like me, are just middle to lower class ordinary people of a first world country. So now I just don't play golf any more.
I miss playing the courses in Spain (Malaga) Some fantastic championship courses.I tried to play off the back tees once just to see how far I was from the professionals. long way behind. They would be hitting a 8 or 9 iron to the green, and I a 4 iron.
There is a golf course in Tanjay, I haven't checked it out as I figured out years ago that I suck at golf...though the times I have played golf I found it a good excuse to drink beer in the morning. From what I've heard the folks that play are mostly local expats and Koreans. Shawn
Cant really vote. I was forced to do rugby as it was the name of my school. Don't really like watching ball games but if I ever had the opportunity would like to play golf again. Spent most of my life teaching Japanese Phys Ed wearing body armour, no balls involved. Staying healthy is a prime objective.
