    Unless you have an absolute current state-of-the-art smartphone, you likely do not have hi res audio, we can agree/disagree on whether that matters or not. My new Samsung is a big bulky thing that I don't want to be carrying in my hand to listen to music when I can have a nice small mp3 that will just clip on, hold more music (but maybe not, depending on your memory and how many pictures/videos you have stored), have more audio features, sound better, and certainly not drain my phone battery. Having said that, I do now use my Samsung for music because my iPod broke just before I left the states, and I get by with it - but, the fact that I miss my iPod and am craving for another one tells me that the Samsung is not performing as a very good replacement, at least for me.

    Ah, well that's where we differ. I have a Google Pixel 2. No complaints about sound quality with that.
