    Good News at Casa Blanca

Casa Blanca, Dumaguete's premier restaurant, has a new menue. Featured along side the old favorites is a selection of Mexican dishes.

Our usual Friday afternoon lunch group assembled at CB about noon, unfortunately missing some of our regulars who are visiting their home countries. In our group were 2 Texans and people who have lived in Arizona, New Mexico and Old Mexico. As anyone familiar with it knows Mexican cuisine varies greatly depending on the region. Gunther suggested that we try a mixed platter of his new Mexican selections.

After a starter of a mixed salad made with organic tomatoes and feta cheese (I know feta ain't Mexican but it is really good) They presented us with 2 huge platters of different selections. The presentation was beautiful and it was all delicious, nicely spiced but not overwellming. My personal favorite was the beef fajita. We washed it all down with frozen Margaritas and finished off with a shot of apple schnaps. It was a great lunch as usual and you never walk away from CB hungry.

Just a tip, if you are downtown around lunch, stroll past CB and see what they have on the menu board. The special along with 35 peso draft beer might be cheaper than a trip to McDo's and your sure to enjoy it more.

I agree, my wife and I were there for their 1st. Anniversary celebration last week. Gunther comped us a buffet ticket and it was great. I also washed it down with frozen Margarita's.

We went there tonight for steak, he didn't have Angus but he had Mulwarra and they were great. I had tuna sashimi starter and wifey had warm vegetable salad which was terrific. Had red house wine for like 95p and it was good. We both took home part of our steaks and mashed potatoes, good for steak and eggs for breakfast tomorrow.

    Now THAT'S a breakfast!

:D Pat, When it comes to steak and egg for breakfast, I find it hard to choose between it and a Full English. Shame I was not there to enjoy the Evening, I have to Admit, that Gunthers new menu sounds great, Roll on Job End

For those who care about such things Gunther will be going to the market in the morning. He will be looking for what fresh fish is available for Good Friday. I hope they have Mahi Mahi just because he does it so well. Might even get me some religion.
