You guys are correct, If I order something extra I know it's an extra cost. I would't ever complain about P20, that's what? $0.43 or less in many places in the world. Especially after a good meal. Someone that does, should have been here when we couldn't get butter or even bread that wasn't too sweet to eat.

    Underlings!

 To me! the Waiter/Waitress has done the correct thing. CHARGED for an addition to an order.

I was actually curious what a resto in the UK would charge as corkage for a pat of butter?

    %

Bring your own anything and they will charge you 20% of the cost of the Item. Sometimes a Smart Aleck "Maitre-D", will give a 5% of the meal cost, as the corkage. Unless you are bringing Vintage Wine or Champagne, 20% of an Item is cheaper
    I know as once I was a Maitre-D

I was at YNot one time, a guy brought a bottle of wine and asked the waitress for a glass, she said ok, but there is a P1,000 corkage charge. Do you think that's fair? Maby? Maby not? I'm not sure.

She stated it up front so it's fair...it's up to the customer to decide whether it is acceptable.

    AH AH! Included!

:D This is the point of the issue. Salsa was the issued accompaniment of the bread on this occasion. Butter was an alternative, not on offer so therefore chargeable.
At all the hotels I have worked in (4) butter was the Accompaniment and therefore FREE. If the client wanted an alternative, not on offer then it would be chargeable
