I see. Now Jack, let's be honest. Have you ever been in any restaurant in your life that charged you for butter with their complementary bread?

Secondly...again, be honest...have you ever been in ANY restaurant in the world that serves SALSA as a standard with their bread???

Be honest now Jack, God is watching...

No to Both, But we are in the PI and this is the main point. CB offers salsa and not butter, Butter is not a PI thing with bread, so in this issue, to me it is chargeable.

I think this illustrates my point.

 DG, this whole issue started with salsa being offered with Bread in CASABLACA RESTO, Dgte. Nothing to do with the UK or anywhere else in the world. S.USA was charged 20p ( A little steep I have to Admit) for Butter, he wanted butter, it was charged for. It WAS, an extra so I agree, it was chargeable. He said he would take his own next time, I said that CB would have the right to charge Corkage. Now right or wrong, the owner is in Business and this, is a fact of life. Eat all the complimentary Bread and Salsa you want. If you want an extra, not on offer, then pay for it. Take your own and get charged maybe, for corkage, OR just don't go again.

And is it ok to charge someone without telling them the charge in advance?

    Double edged knife!

 There was an issue before, according to the OP, both sides are at fault here I think. I, we, non of us were there to witness anything that was said or anything else. All that has been said here, is based on the post as it was.
For me, end of story, additions to orders are chargeable. Rightly or Wrongly.

of course it is ok... that what happens all over the world... you order something you get charged for, no matter if goods or service.

Once in a while you might get the announcement "it's on the house", but surely never will hear "Sir when you order something here you also have to pay for it"

Just bought my 20 packs of coffee at Robinsons. on each was a "FREE" pack instant pancit.

Following that plain stupid "complaining about free addons" guideline here, I could not resist asking the saleslady if I can switch to another pancit brand as i don't like the one which comes FoC.

Guess what... she took me about that much serious like I take guys/girls complaining that they need to pay for what they order.

She was a kind of cute, so I even offered her that I can assist here taping the other pancit to my packs. She also didn't want that.

My last try was to make a deal, if I leave the pancit at the supermarket but get some creamer instead, again following the logical advice earlier on DI "I bet it is calculated in the price"...

I mean I can have 20 pancit for free (140 Peso) but can't exchange them into 78.50 Peso creamer ???

Well was not allowed either. So I took a trike with my Coffee and pancit back to Batinguel jumped of and walked to my house. Suddenly the trike-driver came running after me and wanted money...

I was totally upset, he did not announce that he will charge me for that service.

    Anonymous!

 All this, to one anonymous person is NONSENSE! Clearly, not Nonsense at all, judging by replies here. He forgot to leave his name, when he decided to leave a Turd! on my Doorstep. Maybe he will now, step forward and explain to us, WHY, it is nonsense? When it would seem, he is the only one to think so!
Hiding behind the Rep Icon, is getting fashionable here of late.
