I think if you keep saying unfair things like that about people in this group, you won’t have much of an “audience” to know in the future.

First of all, I'm not worried about not having an audience. This is just an internet forum, not a popularity contest.

Secondly, I never said everyone here is a sexpat. Many is not all.
My point was, many come to the Philippines in search for what this topic is about. I apologize if I offended you or anyone else. It was not my intention at all.

Because there's no market for that here. Or there's nobody here who has the competence to give it a good run. Or it's just not worth bothering with.

The places which exist right now are all complete s*itholes. The crowd is almost all locals.

Management has been up and down in these places. At times they have been okay-ish and snag a handful of foreigners. Mostly they are just complete dumps staffed with bad attitudes.

Again, I think think any sort of bar (even these sorts) can attract people if they look good and are managed well. It's easy for us to think that someone should dump a bunch of time and money into starting one. Even if you did, there's the uncertainty of laws around running such a place. Laws have changed over time. These places have been raided and shutdown in the past. Better to just throw some chairs and tables in a crap building for nothing and hope for the best. Which is pretty much what you get out there today.

You must be referring to Mi Casa. It's just a regular place with a big dance floor. I heard they will be putting in some good pool tables soon (if they aren't already there.)

Y’know the other thing that’s bothering me is the absence of “motorist lodges” in Dumaguete. When I say bothering, I mean in a wonder out aloud, not a fearsome itch or rash that you have to put ointment on sort of way. Could it be that the absence of a t*tty bar in Duma is connected? Nip off to metro Manila, Cebu etc the places are crawling with them. A bit like you might an infestation type of thing going on. Thus it might have something to do with the population - simply put the denizens of Drearyguete are just not ‘up’ for it. Insufficient interest, in need of stimulation, or just plain prudery I really don’t know.

I digress. I am led to believe that these so called “motorist lodges” can be rented by the hour, that you just drive in to a garage and immediately are guaranteed anonymity. A mate of mine has just opened one in Uganda. I can see the benefits, hardy travellers on the road from Kampala to wherever can check in and order a ‘takeaway’. He sees it as a community service whereas others might describe it as a ‘knocking shop’. That Dumaguete doesn’t have one is a mystery to me or perhaps I’m just plain naive or ill informed.

Anyway back to the innuendo: I had a blistering reaction from the wife on my return. She said she’d give me another dose if I mentioned such ideas again...

You aren't looking hard enough. There are none that you can drive a car into the room garage for privacy that I know about (though there is at least one in Sibulan) but they certainly are plenty of short time hotels in the city (one very visible one right across the national highway from the market). They certainly are "up" for it, have the interest and aren't prudes.

In Sibulan there are 4 drive in motels. Driving on North Highway into Sibulan direction, take the turn off to the right where a big tree is hanging over the road. Follow that baranguay road and make your choice. Cannot recommend on quality or service as always only passing by to visit someone living up further on that road.

That turn to four drive-in, short time motels is known as Cangmating Crossing, because it leads to Cangmating Barangay center. Sometimes it's referred to as Maslog Crossing, because the turn is just past Maslog Elementary School (coming from Dgte, on the right).
