You have a rather large property. Depending on what you are wanting to watch I would say you are going to need at least a 16 camera system w/ DVR (you could possibly get away with 8 if you didn't want to watch the old resto). If you wanted to watch your entire perimeter you would need no less than 32 cameras. I can only advise on camera placement and show you how to set up your DVR once installed. I wouldn't charge anything for doing that for you. I will only be there for a limited time and wouldn't be able to do any install, I also don't have any of the tools I would need to do it myself. (I would say you should pony up the money for a nice wireless system to keep from running cables all over your property.)

One thing you need to watch out for in the Philippines is the camera quality. The price might seem fair but you need to look at the TVL number. I have seen as low as 350TVL being sold for the same price you will find 700TVL online (TVL is the horizontal resolution). 350TVL is absolutely crap resolution....unless the person got within 10ft of the camera and looked directly at it and smiled you wouldn't be able to tell who it was. For night vision many of the filipino dealers will sell cameras with 12 low quality LEDs on them....that is good for about 10 feet of visibility (if you are lucky...and remember your cameras are usually attached 10ft above the ground). There are many other things to consider (wide angle lenses, PTZ, Min. Illumination etc), just know that you are not going to find cameras with military/Hollywood grade night vision for cheap. Any camera system less than $1,000 USD will probably not meet your expectations.

Note that any system you buy in the Philippines is going to come with shoddy cables. They will install it for you and you will see lots of feedback and distortion from poorly shielded cables......they will then tell you they can fix that if you buy the better shielded cables from them....but the cables they use don't come with connectors and they really suck at putting them on (they will only crimp them and not solder it, leaving a bad connection and any slight bump to the DVR will make the feed cut out.....so they will have to come back and fix that again.....for another fee.)

Another thing to look at is the type of DVR you are buying. If you are wanting to be able to see the camera feed from outside the house you need to check to see if your internet provider hides you behind a proxy (Globe does this for personal plans). If you buy a network DVR you will NOT be able to push the feed out as Globe (and I think Smart) blocks you for using certain ports as well. You also need a static IP from provider to use the network DVRs. A work around for this is to buy a "Cloud DVR" (that will run you about 100USD for an 8 camera DVR).

These are all things I learned the hard/expensive way. Good luck dealing with local installations (to make sure it was done right I had to directly supervise the guy doing it).

I'm also interested in installing a decent CCTV system, 16 channel system. Would black and white cameras pick up better images? only use it at night outside so it won't make much difference. Then inside have coloured cams. Those cctv at CDR are they decent systems, or not, also the cables, good or bad?

Cameras switch to "black and white" automatically when the ambient light drops below a certain thresh hold. I have never had a look at the ones at CDR King. If someone can post the camera specs I can tell you if it's any good. The "TVL" spec is, IMO, one of the most important aspects. I wouldn't use anything less than 700 TVL. You can see below how bad 420 is.....I've seen cameras being sold in the Philippines below that (and for the price of a 700TVL camera).

A big problem we have had with globe is the fixed IP issue, we have asked many times for this and they tell us we can only have this with their more expensive business package then when we come to take it up we get the "sorry sir it's not available"! So every time the power goes out we have to reset the IP on the cameras.

You need a "Cloud DVR". I had the same issues (plus they block port forwarding on their modem). Either that you or can "hack" their modem.....but I would never suggest someone do something illegal.

I've installed CCTVs several in US, we always use Lorex from Canada.

Our experience with wirelss was not good, the range is very limited and easily blocked by walls vegetation, etc. The camera still requires an energy source so mostly defeats purpose of wireless. When using wired cameras you cannot run in same conduit as electrical as magnetic flux field will distort pic.
