This must be like their other laws, rules, regulations, security and just about everything else here: PRETEND

Just talked to a neighbor who had his dog poisoned, so watch out for future serial killers out there who generally start by killing helpless animals, this is a real indicator of a psychopathic personality.

I certainly agree with you that many killers start on animals and progress to humans to satisfy their blood lust. But there is another side to the coin. Poisoning someones dog is drastic, but maybe the one who administered the poison was driven to distraction and at his wits end. Many Filipinos have dogs, but very few are animal lovers and most have no compassion at all for nature. Dogs are stuffed into small cages and in a short time go mad. Dogs are chained up on such a short leash that they can barely turn around. Many are left outside tied up all day and night, with no access to water, minimal scraps thrown at them as food, never exercised, or washed, and bark non stop. They bark at anything that moves and bark for hours at a time. The owners of these animals are totally deaf to any noise that they make, and the purpose of having a dog in a cage is questionable. If the dog barks, why don't they go and investigate why ? The question is rhetorical, because the answer is they never bother to find out why. So if they have a dog as a warning that someone is there, they could replace the dog with a d*mn door bell. A polite request to them asking them to take better control of their dog is usually met with contempt, usually with the rider that the complaint was made by a moaning fkn foreigner. Remember that these are the same people who will gamble a weeks wages on two chickens fighting to the death, but can't afford a crash helmet. The very same people that will encourage two stallions to kick lumps out of each other, with horrendous and untreated injuries suffered by both, by introducing a brood mare to them, and then say that the horses enjoy it. They call it entertainment.

While I cannot condone in any way the poisoning of a dog, I can sympathise with the desperation of someone driven to do it by continual sleep deprivation and the desperate need to obtain just a little peace amongst thoughtless neighbours.

Sure I can see their point of view, but....

imnsho, the fact that animals are so mistreated in this Country is all the more reason to try to use one's imagination to find a non-violent solution to animals that are a nuisance. Teaching Filipinos by example how to show kindness to animals works sometimes. And I have scolded them politely when I see them preparing roosters for fighting. Maybe they think I'm crazy, I don't care. I have talked to Foreigners here who think they are showing how tough and macho they are in their disregard for animals. All they are showing is how ignorant they are. Are there times when a dog, for example, needs to be put down, yes. But in many cases there are better ways to solve the problem than simply going on a killing spree. Thou shalt not kill. It does not say, Thou shall not kill people. But to be honest if I carry that to extremes thou, I would not kill a fly nor a cockroach, which I have no compunction in doing. So I guess the issue is not totally black and white. Also most dogs if you make friends with them will be easier to control and train. We have several loose dogs here that like me because I treat them well. They will not touch my cat but treat it as their baby sibling.

    (9) If the violation is committed by an alien, he or she shall be immediately deported after service of sentence without any further proceedings.
If also applied on the PH population, my estimate that within one year a lot of places will be less dense populated (LOL).

I commit mass ant genocide several times a year. If all the stray dogs were to gather in one place as ants do I can't say I wouldn't be tempted to put on the biggest bbq the Philippines has ever seen. Guess I'm just an *sshole animal hater.

    I take the bite...

onlymichael is a die-hard-vegetarian. for a animal lover it would be not possible to eat any meat slaughtered like it is common here. I take it a step further, he also won't eat milk-products... squeezing nipples might offend the feelings of the creature.

it is great for onlymichael and his cat to have a rotting street dog as a friend. I prefer having neighbors and kids with smiles and safe from that deseasees as friends.... but each to his/her own

    Ha, read mark twain's essay

which is quite funny wherein he provides the reasons why animals are superior to homo sapiens.
I eat meat so I am being somewhat hypocritical in disliking mistreatment of animals as meat producers routinely abuse animals. Being a vegan or vegetarian is not easy especially if you do not know how to cook.

See my other post in which I admit I am a hypocrite since I still eat meat but I am not proud of doing so and limit my consumption greatly. Also a large amount of meat, especially for all the old fart foreigners is actually bad for their health. Also, I have no qualms with the hunter, provided he uses all the animal he kills and does not waste-much more humane than a slaughterhouse. Also you should know that it is difficult for animals to transmit most diseases to people. You stand a much greater risk catching something from your neighbor than you do from any dog or cat.

The day cows, pigs and chickens have human slaughter houses is the day I say they are superior.

Btw, cows are the biggest polluters on the planet. We do mother nature a service by eating a steak.
