The Ghana-v-USA match was a good one. The US played really well, and I'm looking forward to the US match against Portugal. If the US can pull it off they will have given a lot of pleasure to millions in sending the cry-baby Ronaldo home.

Bear in mind that the USA has already hosted the world cup so it's no longer a minority sport there.

You know that technically "soccer footbal" is actually a very correct term for the sport? Soccer was originally a shortening for As'soc'iation" Football. The original "football", called Mob Football, was spread throughout the British colonies/territories. There were basically no rules to this game, one rule actually "you may not kill anyone". The game evolved separately in different countries as rules were made to make the game more, well, civilized. That's how we got Rugby Football and Gridiron Football (American Football). As the game evolved to the one we know now in the the UK under the name of "Football" you couldn't go back to these other countries and still call it football as they already had a game called football. Association Football is a mouthful so people shortened it to Soccer. Other countries, like Japan, call it soccer because of cultural influences (America is responsible for that one). If a region did not have a game already called football they had no reason to add the "association" and simply called it football.

So yeah, a bit of useless information there but it explains why it is called what it's called in certain countries.

Sweet to see the holders Spain snuffed out in the first two matches. I can only imagine the jubilant scenes in Gibraltar where they were all rooting for Chile.

HUH! That will make the Queue at the GIBRALTAR/ SPAIN border even longer now, They will as always, when they loose, make it The Rocks Fault! View attachment 10778 Could have been Gib as a Contender But for Spain's opposition in the past, Although they are now accepted by FIFA, they were not Eligible for this time. However............ next time, :p

With Englands 28/1 odds, I doubt it will be them. but still a long way to go.

Maybe the winners speech, will still be in Spanish or even Portuguese but I hope not.

Given England’s two losses and inability to score, one has to wonder if the real strength of the highly regarded PREMIER LEAGUE is from players from countries other than England that play in that league...

Rooney can only usually score if she is older than your granny's granny.

England sent out eleven players. Uruguay sent out one team. No contest.

That Roger to me, has always been the Problem with Englands, Prima Donnas of today, unlike those, of years gone by, especially 1966, Those lads played, for the England Team. The Glory was theirs, not His

When will they, from Manager down understand, there is no "I" in Team work? Spain, had got into the same mind frame and the result is, as it is. Failure!
