Not a picture the tourist board would want to display!
Let's not forget quite a lot of Philipino's live on the rivers or banks and the river is their only means for washing/ toileting, that along with whatever floats down stream. The reality of the struggle some of poor have. God bless them....JB

Unfortunately IMHO most of what floats down stream is caused by the complete lack of caring on the average pedestrian, or drivers part. When that drink is finished down or out the window goes that cup, wrapper, diaper etc. On my first visit to see (later to be aking Asawa) I was appalled to see how prevelant it was and conveyed my displeasure to Marie, and her anak, who both were guilty. They had never even thought about it. Masaya to say that I was successful in changing their attitudes. Well at least when I am present

Tom I think all too slowly the mindset is changing , I remember the difference to now and 12 years ago ,
and it was horrendous back then compared to now , I am talking about even the rubbish on the streets in Dumaguete ,
even at my wife's village in Tanjay , the first couple of times I went there I was just appalled at the attitude of everyone ,
they would just simply drop and discard rubbish wherever they stood , kid unwraps lolly and just drops , chip wrappers ,
straws you name it . And this was is in the province where there are choices , not like the condensed overcrowding in the city's .
On the second trip there I called a little meeting with everyone , and we set up some bins around the place , boy what a difference .
But the original mindset had to be challenged first , to change what they could see right in front of their own eyes.

It is an entire article about rubbish , and nit picking out here . is what we are trying to avoid , for f sake get some perspective , it is an article about rubbish in a relevant thread , that is about rubbish in the Philippines . read the article and tell me if there are any political overtones or undertones to it , not one , because I read it , I did you? I am betting you didn't read it , but just formed an opinion by looking at the origin of the article, mmm dangerous play, glad my name is not Karl Marx because if I wrote something in the gardening section and then signed my name it may be a political statement about plants! I mentioned earlier in a post today about a holiday we had in Davao , and we chaperoned by a guy who is friends with Mayor Duterte , do you want me to delete that ? I am actually flabbergasted at such a moronic post , get a life
