I'm "financially independent" and not working anymore. If someone offers me an absurd amount of money to do something I find interesting I would consider doing it (who wouldn't?) but I don't really need to. I have been considering going to Silliman to pick up a degree in nutrition and dietetics but currently have no real interest in finding a career with that degree, I'm just interested in the topic and think it could serve as a backup plan if I absolutely had to work if something horrible happened to my finances or possibly be put to use in a charity type of activity. So I'm not sure, does that make me retired? The traditional type of retirement just isn't an option for most any more. I've been lucky to be able put myself in a situation where I don't really have to worry about my finances or having to grind out a living in a sh*t job.

Personally, I think the off-topic rating should be available only to the moderator. He has only one motive in using it and applies it fairly.

Since you don't get it I'll just remove your ability to leave ratings.

    This already happens.

Users do not generally get an immediate permanent ban (some will if they are obviously a troll and have few posts or if they are an assist banned member starting a new account). They get warning points that explain what they did wrong and a private message is started from the moderator that issued the warning, giving them a chance to discuss the issue if they choose to (and most love to share their opinions with me about it :meh:).

    First warning point: no ban
Second warning point: 1 week ban
Third warning point: 3 month ban
    Fourth warning point: permanent ban

Someone may earn an early permanent ban if they are completely belligerent in the private message or go out on the open forum with a tirade, start a mutiny or announce their departure from the forum. (I usually know who will freak out and who won't before I ever issue a warning point so they may earn more points in short order since I am following their posts closely. I may even require these user's posts to require moderator approval before going public, so you may not even see some of the stuff that has earned warning points leading to permanent bans.)

There is no way for users here to know how many warning points a member has or who is on a temporary or permanent ban, and I won't disclose that information. So you can only wait to see if the person you think is an asset will come back and, if/when they do, if they will have learned anything from those warning points/bans.

As a matter of interest I just googled "google" to see what it came up with.....apart from a link back to Google.

"The term google itself is a creative spelling of googol, a number equal to 10 to the 100th power, or more colloquially, an unfathomable number. Googol was coined in the 1930s and is attributed to the nine-year-old nephew of American mathematician Edward Kasner."

Another day and something learned......therefore not wasted.

Funny how you say that when your question was answered and the purpose of the thread was fulfilled. Light up a little, man! A joke here and there doesn't hurt anybody especially in this Pandemic. We're all just chilling and trying to ease the mood. It's the new year and you're bringing negative vibes with you, that's just not nice innit? Can't rob people of their right to share jokes just because you don't have a sense of humor. And I've read the altercation of the happy camper and the mod, pretty sure you did not understand why he left lol. But nevertheless, you're welcome to follow him if it means you let old men enjoy the forum without any "DRAMA" as the gf says. Ugh OF everywhere... Am I using this abbreviations right? Lol

    Worth an answer:

"You think highly of your opinions." Appears to be a statement and not a question. Not sure how you know but must be based on the fact that I state opinions here. But then, so do you.

"Why is that?" A question this time! As you have not proven the first point I am unable to answer the second.

"Do you think you are superior to others?" In things I know I am superior to those who don't know. In things I don't know I am inferior to those who do know.

One opinion I do have is that in spite of some negative views here from a VERY few members, perhaps 'drinking pals' or even the same person with multiple accounts, I have no intention of stopping giving advice (opinions) on things I know about or feel can be helpful to other members. Perhaps when my negative ratings outweigh my positive ratings, I will review the situation.

When I make it I add (preferably smoked) ham cut in little blocks also, and yes, it's easy to reheat in the microwave. (For me) typically something you'd make when you don't feel like spending more than 10 minutes in the kitchen to prepare a hot meal, and although you can't argue taste of course, it's quite palatable.
Luckily these days my asawa enjoys cooking so I get a much more varied menu for dinner compared to when I lived alone.
