Forum lovers occasionally can create insults negatively against ultra conservative images, never intending however introducing lies in principle, instead letting insane falsehoods impose control and traction inside ordinary nomenclature. Which sums up its actual meaning: 'The estimation of something being valueless'.
Well what do you know! Quotes can be copied from one thread to another. You, he, she, they, them or those people could also post. " I WILL NOT GO OFF TOPIC ANYMORE or at least I'll do my best" 10X if You, he, she, they, them or those people feel a need to do some sort of penance.
I wish that this were a thing moderators could force users to do before regaining their ability to post.
This is a very good point that you make. A training process would be much better than banning users. This training process would get longer and longer the deeper they dug their hole. The point being is that everyone has some value in what they communicate. When a user is banned, the forum loses the valuable part of their input. (however small) The challenge is the sorting and training to reduce the crap. 1) Ideally there would be more community moderation through the use of ratings to relieve the official moderator. 2) Posts the community determined to be bad would be diminished. Similar to what happens if someone rates a post as off topic now. 3) People who collect a number of bad ratings would have to answer a few questions when they made future posts to ensure that they considered the forum rules when making subsequent posts. An important feature would be the ability/requirement to leave comments relating to the negative rating so that posters would learn why the reader left a negative rating. In the end it would be better to train people than to ban them. Those people who are hard to train would be met with a very long training process before every post they made. Whereas a moderator would tire of this, an automated software solution would continue on tirelessly. In time the poster would learn their lesson and become a positive contributor to the forum. There is some value in what everybody says.
I do tend to agree that there is value in what everyone says. However, what you're proposing sounds (IMHO) very similar to what China is doing to the Uighurs, and anyone else who falls fouls of their state "moderators".
You have taken this out of context. Metaphorically speaking. Currently when people run afoul of the rules they are executed. (Banned from the forum.) What I propose is something less permanent. A series of reminders to help them not run afoul of the forum rules.
This already happens. Users do not generally get an immediate permanent ban (some will if they are obviously a troll and have few posts or if they are an assist banned member starting a new account). They get warning points that explain what they did wrong and a private message is started from the moderator that issued the warning, giving them a chance to discuss the issue if they choose to (and most love to share their opinions with me about it ). First warning point: no ban Second warning point: 1 week ban Third warning point: 3 month ban Fourth warning point: permanent ban Someone may earn an early permanent ban if they are completely belligerent in the private message or go out on the open forum with a tirade, start a mutiny or announce their departure from the forum. (I usually know who will freak out and who won't before I ever issue a warning point so they may earn more points in short order since I am following their posts closely. I may even require these user's posts to require moderator approval before going public, so you may not even see some of the stuff that has earned warning points leading to permanent bans.) There is no way for users here to know how many warning points a member has or who is on a temporary or permanent ban, and I won't disclose that information. So you can only wait to see if the person you think is an asset will come back and, if/when they do, if they will have learned anything from those warning points/bans.
Thank you for all of your hard work. I do not see all of the effort you put into this (private messages, etc.) so my recommendations are not that accurate. They are based on the amount of effort I would be willing put into working with people which is much less than the amount of effort you put into this. Thank you for your efforts.
I salute to the mods effort to keep this forum informative and relevant for all those seeking legit information regarding their concerns. Seeing all the personal attacks and BS being posted just because they're being "moderated", it must not be easy. That's why I laugh at users who mock and make a big deal out of it, when in fact, the moderator is only doing his job as a MODERATOR. Been there, done that. Never wanna go back.
