That post wasn't off topic. I was referring to the Philippines, not the United States. Maybe that didn't come through well enough.
Sorry about that. I guess got confused when you led off with a comment about the Pope and the US....then followed up with a link about Donald Trump and the Pope .
I actually like to be present for the shopping. Not a big buyer of the impulse crap that stores try to move but sometimes I see something I would like and the girl (27,29,34) wouldn't know to get. I have also followed my GF and her mom around and watched what they put in the cart. If it were something that wouldn't spoil I would grab 5 times the amount they put in the cart. If they buy the small item of something I would compare price to the large size and buy the large or multiple small sizes, whichever was the best bargain. I was also teaching them to buy complete meals so nobody has to run out and get two ingredients along with some meat or fish to make a complete dinner. Then there is the ever missing did not get what I said to not come back without item, the main reason for the shopping trip to begin with. Don't get me started on they don't care about the quality of fruit and will buy just about anything! When it comes to watermelons, I told them to have them cut in half to make sure they are not so unripe they are white inside. It is best that I at least be present. It saves time, it saves money, it improves quality. It saves trike and easyride fare. It gets me out of the house and I didn't come to the Philippines to stay indoors.
Ah, well that makes a difference. I'm fine with chicken necks and rice every day. The real reason I don't like to go is because the grocery bill will be 1-2k more than if I were not there because of all the stupid Western products I throw in the cart......and most of the time those products taste "off" and I just end up being disappointed. I'm also not a picky eater at home so no real sense in spending the extra money.
