Not sure about the rest of the Gardening members here but I have had to up my Water Budget to keep the Fruit trees and Decorative side of the gardens alive. Up from approx 400 to 650 last month but worth the extra to keep things going. The grass I think has Had it? :bawling:

Good point but I wasn't talking about automatic voltage regulators or a UPS for a computer. It pretty much sucks paying up to 4 times the money for a laptop, phone, decent tablet PC. Flash drives and micro SD cards can be had at reasonable prices but from what I saw they were bottom of the basement quality. It can be hard to find a 200GB micro SD card too. When I came I stopped in manila to buy my phone that had been on the market for 1.5 years already in Manila and had just been discounted 3K before I bought it. It was a further 8 months before that phone made it to Dumaguete. My Dell laptop can be replaced in Manila...at 4 times the price I paid for it in the US. My Huawei mediapad x1 that I paid 15.5k for, just reduced from 18.5 k is now up to 24K again. For the money I would buy the newer X2. My point was that high tech was expensive and hard to obtain generally in the Philippines and more so in Dumaguete. If you look at massive pieces of electronics like an AVR or UPC, you can see they are tech based on 45-50 years ago high tech. You can easily save $1,000 and a whole shitload of aggravation bringing technology to Dumaguete rather than trying to obtain it once you arrive. I learned that well when I scoped out Dumaguete in 2013 and was well prepared for it in moving to Bacong and Sibulan in 2015.

As for a DVD player? My laptop will play them and can be hooked to a television or monitor / projector through VGA or HDMI cables.

I do/have recommend bringing some 12-15 foot household extension cords from the US, the quality will probably be higher, the wire gage heavier than those obtained locally and you can't count on electrical outlets to be spaced as they are in the NEC for the US. My apartment was really good about outlets but they went somewhat overboard and even had an outlet for an aircon over a bay window. the last place I would want to mount an aircon.

At risk of going even farther astray, I think you are being prodded Jack because you are giving nudges to people who go off topic.

I think they have missed that you are listed as STAFF here and you have a responsibility to give that gentle nudge. I believe that you forbear to nudge more than you nudge and nobody is immune to a one liner / zinger. That is just how I see it. This site's adninistration is pretty darn benevolent in my opinion and I think that anyone else who gives it some thought will agree.
